PS5 Remote Play will allow us to play non-compatible PS4 games

PS5 Remote Play will allow us to play non-compatible PS4 games. Sony revealed some in-depth details about how PS5 will be backward compatible with its previous versions, with the announcement of a very short list of PS4 games that will not be playable on PS5, plus confirmation of which PS4 accessories will work with the new hardware. However, it seems that these games will not be completely out of our reach, as direct compatibility will not be the only way to play old games.

  • Which games will be released with the PS5 debut?
  • Sony makes its own teardown of PS5 in a new video
  • Which PS4 accessories will work on PS5?

In a post on the PlayStation Blog where Sony covers compatibility with older versions of PlayStation, there is an interesting section on Remote Play: “YYes, Remote Play from PS4 to PS5 and PS Now streaming are supported. The benefit of streaming is that you can save your storage space on PS5. Please note that PS4 games will not leverage PS5’s Game Boost through streaming.” It turns out that you can stream games from any PS4 using Sony’s Remote Play feature, not only for those games in physical format but for the entire digital catalog and the company’s subscription service.

However, it is worth mentioning that these broadcasts will not only use of the new PS5 Game Boost feature (which will offer optimization and higher frame rates, resulting in a more stable gaming experience) but will also use the Internet connection, so we could suffer quality or fluidity problems depending on the speed of our connection or other network problems. Of course, to be able to play through Remote Play, both consoles should be running.

Even so, any player who is planning to upgrade from PS4 to PS5 will be able to take advantage of these PS5 Remote Play benefits to save space available on the SSD.
