YouTube TV is upgrading its multiview feature, allowing subscribers to combine up to four channels on one screen for customizable viewing across sports, news, and entertainment.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced this “fully customizable multiview” experience in his annual letter, enabling viewers to create personalized layouts. The multiview feature initially launched in 2023 for sports broadcasts, subsequently incorporating news and weather categories.
Initially, multiview was limited to preselected channels like CNN, MSNBC, HGTV, and Food Network. YouTube TV later began testing customization options with a small user group. This enhancement facilitates simultaneous viewing of various genres on a single screen, accommodating diverse household preferences.
To access multiview, users press the down button on their remote, select the “Multiview” icon or “Watch Multiview” option, then choose up to three additional live channels for simultaneous display.
Mohan also addressed YouTube TV’s forthcoming introduction of genre-specific channel packages. These packages will allow subscribers to select specialized content bundles focused on sports, news, family programming, or entertainment, enabling tailored subscriptions and potential cost savings.
Specific details regarding package pricing or launch dates have not been released. Additional information is anticipated in the coming months as the platform prepares for rollout.
