Anthropic announced the expansion of its Labs team, dedicated to incubating experimental products at the frontier of Claude’s capabilities.
The company’s models are evolving rapidly, with each new release delivering leaps in capabilities. This pace requires a new product development process that includes tinkering and experimenting at Claude’s limits, testing unpolished versions with early users to identify successes, and scaling those into reliable products for customers.
This method has already yielded several key products. Claude Code started as a research preview and grew into a billion-dollar product. The Model Context Protocol (MCP) now records 100 million monthly downloads and serves as the industry standard for connecting AI to tools and data. Additional features include Skills, Claude in Chrome, and Cowork, which launched as a research preview the day before the announcement to deliver Claude’s agentic capabilities to desktop environments.
Mike Krieger, co-founder of Instagram and Anthropic’s former Chief Product Officer over the past two years, is joining the Labs team to work alongside Ben Mann.
Ami Vora, who joined Anthropic at the end of 2025, will lead the Product organization. She will partner closely with CTO Rahul Patil to scale Claude experiences for millions of daily users.
“The speed of advancement in models demands a different approach to how we build, how we organize, and where we focus. Labs gives us room to break the mold and explore,” said Daniela Amodei, President of Anthropic. “We now have the right structure in place to support the most critical motions for our product organization—discovering experimental products at the frontier of Claude’s capabilities, and scaling them responsibly to meet the needs of our enterprise customers and growing user base.”
Anthropic is hiring builders with proven records of creating popular products and handling emerging technology responsibly. The company invites applications from those interested in working at the frontier of AI capabilities.
