This guide teaches you how to add album art to music on your Android device using the free Album Art Grabber app, which downloads artwork from the web and attaches it to your local songs. Album Art Grabber scans music websites like LastFM and MusicBrainz to find matching covers for any tracks saved on your device. Note that if you use a streaming service like Spotify, album art downloads automatically, so no app is needed.

How to add album art using Album Art Grabber

Follow these steps to install the app and attach album artwork to your music files on Android.

  • Open the Play Store app, represented by the multicolored triangle icon in your app drawer.
  • Search for “album art grabber” and tap INSTALL on the app when it appears.
  • Open Album Art Grabber, which has a gray record icon in your app drawer or on the home screen.
  • Tap a song or album to open the “Choose image from” window.
  • Select a source such as LastFM, MusicBrainz, or your SD card; matching results will then appear.
  • Tap the desired album art, and a confirmation window will pop up.
  • Tap Set to attach the artwork to the selected song or album.
Pro tip: For the best matches, make sure your music files have accurate tags for artist name and album title before using the app.

Adding album art transforms your music library from a plain list into a visually appealing collection that makes browsing more enjoyable. It helps you quickly identify tracks and albums at a glance, especially on devices with larger screens or when using music players in car mode.

Custom artwork also enhances the overall listening experience, syncing visuals with your favorite songs for a more immersive feel. Over time, a fully covered library improves navigation in apps like the default music player or third-party ones, saving you time and frustration.
