Bosch eBike Systems unveiled a new digital theft-protection feature for eBikes at CES 2026 in Las Vegas. The feature lets users mark their eBike or battery as stolen directly in the eBike Flow app. This service will launch free of charge at the end of January 2026.
Once marked as stolen, the status appears across the entire Bosch eBike Systems digital ecosystem. This central storage makes resale harder for thieves and improves recovery chances for owners. Buyers of used eBikes, dealers, and public authorities see a warning, including the stolen serial numbers, when they try to connect via the eBike Flow app. The app connection blocks permanently. Affected eBikes lose access to over-the-air updates and custom riding modes.
Dealers receive the same warning in the Bosch eBike Systems DiagnosticTool during servicing attempts. The system relies on a digital allocation principle. Each eBike component—the motor, battery, and display—registers uniquely and links to a specific user profile. Stolen status stores centrally, accessible via the eBike Flow app, DiagnosticTool, and Bosch eBike Support. Only the registered user can remove the marking.
This addition builds on Bosch eBike Systems’ theft-protection portfolio, which started in 2018. Existing tools include eBike Lock, eBike Alarm, and Battery Lock. The new layer aims to deter theft further within the smart system framework.
Bosch eBike Systems also expanded options for commercial users, such as eBike sharing providers, rental firms, and company fleets. These groups often need controls for unreturned eBikes. The Bosch ConnectModule enables remote deactivation of motor support. Commercial users gain cloud-based access to operating data, covering battery level, range forecast, service intervals, maintenance requirements, GPS position if tracking activates, and usage statistics.
Operators can integrate this data into existing fleet management systems. The extended control functions became available immediately to commercial users.
The announcements address rising eBike theft challenges. Thieves target eBikes for resale profits, leaving owners with anger, frustration, and financial losses. Bosch’s solutions intervene at the resale stage through digital tracking and blocking.
For private users, the eBike Flow app marking provides system-wide visibility from late January 2026. Warnings appear on connection attempts, enforcing blocks without physical intervention. The user-profile linkage ensures secure, owner-only reversal.
In the commercial space, the ConnectModule offers proactive management. Remote motor deactivation prevents unauthorized use. Cloud data supports operational oversight, from daily metrics to long-term planning. Availability now positions it for the expanding professional eBike fleet market.
Bosch eBike Systems positions these updates as enhancements to its smart system. The theft-protection evolution since 2018 layers software controls atop hardware options. Dealers and authorities gain tools for verification, while ecosystems unify data flows.
