Google and Apple are collaborating on a new feature simplifying data transfer between Android and iOS devices, aiming for easier transitions during setup, as hinted by Android’s Canary operating system build.
This functionality is anticipated for future developer betas of iOS 26. A Google representative confirmed the accuracy of the 9to5Google report regarding this development but did not elaborate on specific transfer mechanisms.
Both companies currently offer proprietary applications for ecosystem transitions: Google provides “Switch to Android,” and Apple offers “Switch to iOS.” Integrating this improved transfer capability at the operating system level and expanding supported data types suggests a more streamlined user experience. This feature originates from an early development stage, Android Canary, indicating potential iterations before its final release.
