The Samsung Gallery app offers a fun and creative way to enhance your images without needing any third-party software. This guide will walk you through the entire process of adding stickers to your photos on a Samsung Galaxy, from using pre-made designs to creating your own personalized ones.

Before you start: You will need a Samsung Galaxy device with the native Gallery app installed. This feature is available on most modern Galaxy models, including the S24 series.

How to add stickers to photos on a Samsung Galaxy

Follow these steps to easily place pre-made stickers or even create your own custom ones directly within the Samsung Gallery app on your device.

Method 1: Adding existing stickers to a photo

  • Open the Gallery app and select the photo you want to edit.
  • Tap the pencil icon at the bottom to enter edit mode, then select the Decorations icon, which looks like a smiley face.
  • Choose the Stickers option to view the different sticker collections available to you.
  • Browse through the categories like presets, emojis, or date and time stickers, and tap on one to add it to your photo.
  • Once a sticker is on your photo, you can drag it to reposition, pinch to resize, or use the corner handles to rotate and flip it.
  • To find more options, tap the plus (+) icon to browse and download new sticker packs from the Galaxy Store.
  • When you are satisfied with your edits, tap the Save button, usually located in the top-right corner, to apply the changes.

Method 2: Creating and using custom stickers

  • While in the Stickers menu, tap the gallery icon (often found next to the clock icon) to begin creating a custom sticker.
  • Select an image from your gallery that contains the object or person you want to turn into a sticker.
  • Use the on-screen tools to trace the part of the image you want to use. You can use a free-form tool for precise cutouts or a shape tool for circles and squares.
  • After making your selection, you have the option to add a border to your new sticker. Once you are done, tap Next.
  • Your new custom sticker is now saved and can be immediately added to your current photo. It will also be available for future use and can even be accessed via the Samsung keyboard in messaging apps.
  • After placing your custom sticker on the photo, tap Save to finalize your creation.
Pro tip: When you save your edited photo, the Gallery app often gives you the option to save it as a copy. This is a great way to keep your original, unedited photo safe while still having fun with decorations.

Learning to use the built-in sticker function in the Samsung Gallery app saves you time and device storage. Instead of downloading and managing multiple third-party photo editing applications, you can perform creative edits directly within the app you already use to view your photos, streamlining your workflow.

Beyond convenience, this feature unlocks a new level of personalization for your images. Creating custom stickers from your own photos allows you to add unique, personal touches that pre-made sticker packs can’t offer. You can turn a pet, an inside joke, or a favorite drawing into a reusable sticker, making your messages and social media posts more engaging and fun.
