Activision and Treyarch have officially detailed the multiplayer component of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, utilizing a reveal trailer and an accompanying deep-dive blog post to outline the maps, modes, and new gameplay systems that will be available to players. The information provides a comprehensive look at the game ahead of its upcoming beta test scheduled for early October.
The multiplayer reveal was accompanied by a two-and-a-half-minute trailer set to the track “FE!N” by Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. The footage showcases the game’s fast-paced combat, with players seen sliding, shooting, and executing wall-jumps to navigate environments and engage enemies. A central theme of the trailer is the integration of near-future technology into the gameplay loop, offering a glimpse at new equipment and powerful Scorestreaks that will define the on-field experience.
Among the futuristic tools highlighted is the Echo Unit, a tactical hologram decoy designed to mislead opponents. The technological focus extends to new Scorestreaks, including the D.A.W.G., a quadruped robot that assists in combat, and the Rhino, a remote-controlled soldier unit that players can pilot directly. These new additions will join a roster of returning classic Scorestreaks familiar to series veterans, such as the RC-XD, UAV, and Care Package.
A significant new gameplay mechanic introduced for Scorestreaks is the Overclock system. This feature allows players to unlock unique upgrades to enhance the functionality of their Scorestreaks. For example, the UAV can be overclocked to equip a missile defense flare or to lower its in-match score cost, making it more accessible. The new Rhino soldier unit can be upgraded with an improved radar system and an extended operational runtime, increasing its battlefield effectiveness.
At launch, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will include a total of 18 multiplayer maps. This lineup is divided into 16 Core maps designed for 6v6 gameplay and two Skirmish maps built for larger 20v20 engagements. Six of the Core maps will be playable during the upcoming beta period. The launch roster also includes three maps returning from the 2012 title Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
The full list of 16 Core 6v6 maps is as follows:
- Blackheart (Available in Beta)
- Cortex (Available in Beta)
- Exposure (Available in Beta)
- Imprint (Available in Beta)
- The Forge (Available in Beta)
- Toshin (Available in Beta)

The two larger Skirmish maps designed for 20v20 combat are:

The game’s beta will feature a selection of established multiplayer modes, including Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint. The full launch will expand this list with modes like Free-For-All, Gunfight, Kill Order, Control, and Search and Destroy. Additionally, “Face Off” versions of several modes will be available, which offer a more focused gunplay experience by disabling Scorestreaks to reduce battlefield chaos.
A new primary mode named Overload will also be introduced and will be playable during the beta. In this objective-based mode, teams compete to carry an Overload Device to specific control zones on the map. Respawns are enabled, and teams must protect their device carrier to succeed, placing a strong emphasis on coordinated teamwork.
The traditional Perk system has been updated with a new feature called Hybrid Combat Specialties. This system modifies the standard three-Perk loadout by activating special abilities when players combine Perks from different categories. Treyarch provided specific examples of this system in action. The Scout Specialty, activated by pairing red and blue Perks, temporarily conceals a player’s position after they secure a bullet elimination. The Operative Specialty, which combines blue and green Perks, allows players to charge their Field Upgrades by performing stealth kills.
Further gameplay refinements include the ability for players to share their custom weapon builds with friends using “Build Codes.” Another new feature allows players to access the Gunsmith weapon customization menu directly from within the Multiplayer Firing Range, streamlining the process of testing and modifying loadouts.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is scheduled for release on November 14, 2025. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S. Players who pre-order the game will gain access to an early access beta running from October 2 to October 5. Following this period, an open beta will be available for all players from October 5 to October 8.
