Do you need to log out of your YouTube account? If you’re using the desktop website, you just need to click your profile picture to find the option. If you’re using the mobile app, it takes a few extra steps. You can also log out of your account remotely from a web browser. Here’s how to log out of YouTube on your computer, Android, iPhone, or iPad.
Four simple ways to log out of YouTube
Follow these methods to sign out from YouTube depending on your device or if you need remote access.
Using a computer
- Click your profile picture in the top-right corner of the page.
- In the drop-down menu, click Sign out (this option is near the top of the menu, under your YouTube handle).
Using an Android device

- Tap Sign out in the menu that opens. Note: This also signs you out from all apps that share your account, such as Gmail or Google Maps.
Using an iPhone or iPad

- Tap Switch account in the pop-up menu.
- Tap Sign out (or Remove from this device) under your account email.
Logging out remotely
- Go to Google’s device activity page in any web browser.
- Sign in with the Google account you’re signed into on YouTube.
- On the device list, select the device you want to log out from.
- Click Sign out. Note: This will log the device out of your YouTube (and Google) account.
Why this matters
Logging out of YouTube helps maintain your privacy, especially on shared or public devices. It prevents others from accessing your watch history, subscriptions, or personalized recommendations without permission. This simple action reduces the risk of unauthorized account use, which could lead to unwanted changes or exposure of your data.
Beyond security, regular sign-outs encourage better digital habits, like reviewing connected devices periodically. It also ensures that your YouTube experience remains tailored to you when you sign back in, keeping recommendations fresh and relevant.
