Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming expansion to The Sims 4, titled “Adventure Awaits,” showcasing the new getaway-themed content ahead of its October 2nd launch across Xbox, PlayStation, PC, and Mac platforms.

The “Adventure Awaits” expansion introduces a brand-new world called Gibbi Point, comprised of three distinct neighborhoods designed to offer Sims a variety of vacation experiences. These neighborhoods include Wanderwood Wilds, characterized by its forest trails; Crystal Valley, known for its unique rock formations; and Jellyfish Junction, a waterfront area. Each neighborhood features a dedicated getaway location, allowing Sims to escape their daily routines. These locations are Camp Gibbi Gibbi in Wanderwood Wilds, Love Highland in Crystal Valley, and Revive & Thrive in Jellyfish Junction.

A key feature of the expansion is the new Scheduling Getaway system, which enables players to plan various types of breaks for their Sims, ranging from long weekends to extended summer vacations, with the option for recurring breaks. Complementing this system is the introduction of Custom Venues, allowing players to construct personalized getaway locations tailored to specific activities and rules.

The expansion includes pre-designed getaway options such as a Cosy Bed & Breakfast, an Outdoor Kids Camp, a Fitness Retreat, and a Cooking Competition. Furthermore, owning other Sims 4 expansions unlocks additional getaway possibilities. For instance, players can create a Corporate Retreat using the “Get to Work” expansion, an Off-the-Grid Survival Competition with “Island Living,” or a Dog Training getaway with “Cats & Dogs.”

“Adventure Awaits” also enriches the gameplay experience for child Sims with the addition of new Traits, Formative Moments that influence their development, and evolving Childhood Sentiments that impact their personalities into adulthood. New child-focused aspirations, such as “Cool Kid on the Block,” and personality options like Goofball, Creative, Competitive, and Evil are also introduced, along with imaginary friends.

The expansion brings a range of new activities for both child and adult Sims. Children can engage in activities like papercraft, archery, diving, entomology, hide-and-seek, and rock-paper-scissors. Adult Sims can participate in activities such as kayaking, watersliding, spin classes, and Elimination Challenges. Additionally, adults can pursue careers as Park Workers, with options to become a Camp Counselor or Park Ranger.

The Sims 4’s Adventure Awaits expansion will be available for £34.99. Players who purchase the expansion before November 13th will receive an early purchase incentive, including the Toasty Tower Lamp, Toasty Tea Kettle, and Toasty Tootsies Socks.
