Lenovo has unveiled the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept, a 14-inch Windows PC featuring a rotating screen that swivels into portrait mode, at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The unveiling follows a leak of the device on X.
Described by Lenovo as a laptop designed for TikTok enthusiasts, the VertiFlex Concept’s design bears resemblance to Samsung’s Sero TVs, which also offer landscape-to-portrait rotation. However, the Sero has struggled to move beyond being perceived as a novelty item.
The ThinkBook VertiFlex is currently a concept device, and its future market availability remains uncertain. While companies often showcase futuristic concepts at events like CES and IFA, many never reach the market. Lenovo’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, a laptop with a rolling display priced at $3,499, is a notable exception, becoming available for purchase two years after its initial introduction.
Details regarding the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept are limited, primarily focusing on its rotating screen feature. Lenovo has disclosed that the device has a 14-inch screen and a slim profile, measuring 0.7 inches in thickness and weighing 3.06 pounds. This makes it slightly thicker but lighter than Apple’s 15-inch MacBook Air.
In vertical mode, the ThinkBook VertiFlex Concept can be paired with Android smartphones via the Lenovo Smart Connect app, enabling file transfer and phone mirroring.
A provided image reveals an island-style keyboard, a large trackpad, a raised webcam notch, and a selection of ports, including HDMI, two Thunderbolt ports, and a microSD card slot.
Key specifications such as screen type, processor details, the durability of the rotation mechanism, and pricing remain undisclosed. It is uncertain whether this information will ever be revealed, as the device is currently only a concept.
