Huawei’s Pura X vertical foldable smartphone has achieved a significant milestone, reaching 700,000 units shipped within six months of its launch, according to Titanium Media. This sales figure highlights the device’s popularity both in China and globally, driven by its distinctive design and technological advancements.
The Pura X marks a redesign of Huawei’s vertical foldable line, focusing on improved usability for reading, working, and browsing. This design overhaul appears to have resonated with consumers, contributing to the device’s rapid sales.
The phone’s initial performance was strong, with 100,000 units sold within the first week. The Pura X incorporates an enhanced Kirin 9020 5G chipset and operates on HarmonyOS 5.0. It also boasts a 16:10 wide screen and new screen collaboration capabilities.
The success of the Pura X has significantly impacted Huawei’s position in the Chinese foldable smartphone market. It helped the company secure 75% of the market share. While there has been no official global launch for the Pura X, its strong sales performance to date potentially positions it competitively against rivals like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Motorola foldables.
Looking ahead, rumors suggest that Huawei is developing a new “Pura foldable” model featuring an even wider screen and additional features compared to the existing Pura X. Further details about this upcoming device are anticipated as development progresses.
