Google is reportedly preparing to launch a refreshed lineup of Nest products, marking the first significant update to the brand since 2021. According to Android Headlines, the upcoming releases include a new smart speaker, indoor and outdoor security cameras, and a wired video doorbell.
The new Google Home Speaker will differentiate itself from previous models by utilizing the Gemini AI model instead of Google Assistant. The Nest Cam Indoor is set to receive a resolution upgrade from 1080p to 2K, offering sharper video quality. This indoor camera will also feature zoom and crop capabilities, along with local storage for up to one hour of footage in case of internet outages.
The Nest Cam Outdoor will mirror the indoor version’s enhancements, including the 2K resolution, zoom/crop functionality, and local storage. Similarly, the new Nest wired doorbell camera will incorporate these upgraded features.
A common feature across all new camera-enabled devices will be “Daily Summaries,” a Gemini-powered tool designed to provide users with concise recaps of the day’s events captured by the cameras. While no specific release date has been announced, the report suggests that the new Nest products are expected to arrive “very soon.”
This refresh comes after a four-year gap in new Nest product releases, indicating a substantial commitment from Google to revitalize its smart home offerings.
