Google is reportedly preparing to launch refreshed Nest Cam Indoor, Nest Cam Outdoor, and Nest Doorbell devices, marking the first major Nest refresh in years. According to Android Headlines, all three devices will feature 2K HDR resolution, Gemini integration, and local fallback storage.
The Nest Cam Indoor (3rd Gen) will be available in Snow, Berry, and Hazel. It will also feature digital zoom up to 6x, event previews from the past three hours, and local fallback storage in case of Wi-Fi outages. The Nest Cam Outdoor (2nd Gen) will mirror many of the features of the indoor cam, and will come in Snow and Hazel, with the latter potentially exclusive to the Google Store.
The Nest Doorbell (3rd Gen) is receiving its first major update since 2021. It is moving to 2K HDR resolution and new color options of Snow, Hazel, and Linen. One notable addition is Gemini-powered Daily Summaries, which provide a recap of the day’s events.
In addition to the hardware updates, Google is also reshaping its subscription model. Nest Aware is set to be rebranded as Google Home Premium, with a new Advanced tier also planned. Pricing details have not yet been revealed.
The integration of Gemini is intended to replace Google Assistant in these devices. The refresh comes after a period of relative quiet for Google’s smart home brand, leading to some speculation about the future of the Nest line. However, the unveiling of a new smart speaker during the Made by Google event, combined with the forthcoming camera and doorbell updates, indicates that Google is continuing to invest in its Nest ecosystem.
