Riot Games has announced the official launch date for Riftbound, its League of Legends physical card game. Players can expect Riftbound to be available in multiple regions starting October 31. Preorders will begin on August 4 through Riot’s Merch Store, with a store locator also launching on the same day to help players find local game stores carrying the game. Select mass market stores may also have Riftbound available at launch.
The initial product offerings will focus on the ‘Origins’ set, which includes both pre-constructed decks and booster boxes. The Proving Grounds starter set features decks centered around League of Legends champions Annie, Garen, Lux, and Master Yi. Champion Decks will also be available, showcasing Viktor, Jinx, and Lee Sin.
For players looking to expand their collections or build new decks, booster packs containing 14 cards will be available. Booster boxes, containing 24 packs each, will also be offered. In addition to cards, Riot is releasing accessories such as playmats and card sleeves featuring popular champions like Ahri, Jinx, Miss Fortune, and Volibear.
Preordering through the Riot Store will require a Riot ID, and purchase limits will be in place. Participating stores will host Riftbound: Origins launch events, offering a Promo booster as an incentive. Riot has stated they will “continue to monitor and assess the overall market demand over time for Riftbound: Origins and are prepared to take additional actions as needed.”
An Arcane Boxed Set is also in development, with preorders scheduled to open at the end of August. With Riftbound entering the competitive trading card game market, its success remains to be seen, but Riot Games has expressed enthusiasm for the new venture.
