Activision has unveiled details for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 5, scheduled to launch on August 7. The update promises a wealth of new content across Black Ops 6, Zombies, and Warzone, aiming to “unleash your inner action hero” with six new modes, four new and/or remastered maps, new weapons, updates, and enemies.

According to Activision, “The Rogue Black Ops team is finally back in the good graces of the CIA, and that means access to all the weapons and firepower they could ask for. It’s time to finish the job they started and crush the final Pantheon moles, putting their betrayal to rest once and for all.”

Black Ops 6 will receive three new maps: Runway (6v6), Exchange (6v6, 2v2), and the remastered WMD (World Motor Dynasty) (6v6). Additionally, an in-season update will introduce the Jackpot (6v6) map. Warzone will feature a Stadium Point of Interest (POI) update in Verdansk.

New modes coming to Black Ops 6 include Aim High, Snipers Only, Cranked Moshpit, and in-season updates to Cranked Demolition, Blueprint Gunfight, and Ransack. Warzone will get Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) such as Stadium Resurgence and Deadline.

Warzone will also be enriched with new cosmetics, weapon attachments, bundles, and a series of limited-time events like 90 Action Heroes, Atomic Block Party, and Operation: Hell Ride.

Activision stated, “Recent intelligence indicates a massive disruption across Verdansk is imminent, as recon teams have confirmed the existence of a clandestine military base hidden within the sealed walls of the National Acropolis Arena. The extent of the threat remains unclear, though a weapon capable of large-scale destruction is expected to be unearthed within the vicinity.”

Players will be tasked to “Breach the stadium in possibly the most impressively explosive way possible as you and other enemy squads attempt race to complete the multi-step Satellite Hijack Contract. Infiltrate the Stadium by any means necessary, confirming the nefarious operations and hidden compound within.”

Season 5 will continue to offer a range of rewards, including charms, emblems, calling cards, stickers, and weapon skins, for participating in ranked play in both Black Ops 6’s multiplayer and Warzone’s battle royale.

Activision addressed adjustments to Warzone’s solo play options. After testing Casual Solos and Core Solos side-by-side, data revealed that players were more than three times as likely to choose Casual over Core. As a result, both Core and Casual Solos will be available globally upon the Season 5 launch, but after a couple of days, Core Solos will be limited to players in North America and Europe, while Casual Solos will remain available globally.

“By tailoring playlists based on regional data, we’re ensuring that every Call of Duty: Warzone player gets the best possible experience, regardless of location,” the publisher said. “This is the next step in refining how we build playlists that serve all Call of Duty: Warzone players. We’ll continue to evaluate performance and feedback as Season 05 rolls out.”

The Zombies mode will also receive significant updates, including a new map called Reckoning and a new Wonder Weapon named Gorgofex. The Gorgofex is described as combining fungal, floral, and insectile traits to “deliver precise impact damage and gravity-defying disruption in close quarters, glowing membranes on the weapon show hints of motion and circulation under the surface.” Other additions to Zombies include the Mister Peeks field upgrade, enemies Uber Klaus and Kommando Klaus, new grief arenas, and a new combat bow.

In other Call of Duty news, Activision recently unshackled Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 from the Call of Duty HQ launcher. A brief message from Activision confirmed that players with either Modern Warfare 2 or 3 can now “access them directly” after redownloading fresh installs, bypassing the HQ launcher.

While Activision did not specify a reason for this change, it is speculated that this is a move to streamline the HQ launcher in preparation for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s release later this year.

Details about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which was announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 last month, have also emerged. The game is expected to feature Skirmish and Overload multiplayer modes, as well as a 20v20 wingsuit option. These details were inadvertently revealed through a developer-only playtest that was accidentally made accessible to all users on the Call of Duty app last month.
