Samsung has expanded its foldable phone lineup with the introduction of the Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and the new, more affordable Z Flip7 FE. The Z Fold7, priced at a starting $1,999 (a $100 increase from its predecessor), is significantly thinner and lighter, weighing 218 grams compared to the Fold6’s 239 grams, and measuring 8.9 mm folded. It features an 8-inch main display, a larger 6.5-inch cover screen, and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.
Durability improvements on the Z Fold7 include a restructured hinge and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. Its camera system has been upgraded to a 200-megapixel main sensor. AI-powered photo editing, like Photo Assist and generative AI fill, is also integrated. The Z Flip7 maintains its $1,100 starting price, is thinner, and boasts a larger 4.1-inch cover screen and a 6.9-inch main display. It features a 4,300 mAh battery and a Samsung-made 3nm Exynos2500 chip.
The Z Flip7 FE, starting at $899, aims to attract budget-conscious consumers with a 4,000 mAh battery, a 3.4-inch cover screen, and a 6.7-inch main screen. It runs on the Exynos2400 processor. Both new Flip models gain DeX support for workstation-like functionality. New software features across the lineup include the “Now Bar” on the cover screen for real-time activities and “Now Brief” for summarized information. Google’s Gemini Live and an upgraded AI-powered Gemini assistant are also integrated, with all new Z Flip and Z Fold phones supporting Gemini Live’s camera and video AI features.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 begin today, with general availability on July 25.
