Vampire Survivors is launching cross-save functionality today, allowing players to share their game progress across different devices on Android, iOS, PC, and Xbox, with Nintendo Switch to follow later.
The game’s developer, Poncle, announced that cross-saves are now available on multiple platforms, but PlayStation is excluded due to a “legal issue.” According to a Steam post from Poncle, “Last month, we told everyone that cross-save would be available on PlayStation4/5, PC, Xbox, Android, and iOS alongside our next free VS update in April.” However, at the last minute, a legal issue on PlayStation arose that Poncle wasn’t aware of, requiring them to share information about their partners that they were unable to.
Poncle stated that “The chances of Cross-Save coming to PlayStation consoles are now very slim, but not impossible, so we’re going to keep working alongside PlayStation to resolve these problems.” The company and PlayStation didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment. As a result, cross-saves are currently available on Android, iOS, PC, and Xbox, with Nintendo Switch to be supported “at a later date.”
Poncle also expressed interest in bringing cross-saves to the Apple Arcade version of the game, but only “if we can do so without breaching any privacy commitments.” To use cross-saves, players must manually save and load their save data across platforms as needed, as cross-saves aren’t automatically synced. A guide on how to turn on cross-saves is available from Poncle.
In addition to the cross-save functionality, Poncle released a free Vampire Survivors DLC expansion titled “Emerald Diorama,” based on Square Enix’s SaGa franchise, and a chicken-themed update called “The Coop.” These updates coincide with the launch of cross-save functionality across the supported platforms.
