Apple is set to unveil the AirPods Pro 3, reportedly scheduled for release in September 2025, likely coinciding with the launch of the iPhone 17.
Apple set to launch AirPods Pro 3 in September 2025
A post by Kosutami on X suggest the AirPods Pro 3 will include a new design and heart-rate monitoring features, similar to the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2, according to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, a trusted source for Apple information.
Additionally, there are speculations regarding temperature sensors and infrared cameras that may be included in future AirPods models, but Kuo’s report indicates these features will not appear in the AirPods Pro 3.
One intriguing feature is the potential for an interactive touch display in the charging case, which could function as a remote control. This idea has circulated since Apple filed a patent for it in 2022 and has gained traction with similar products from competing brands like JBL.
Reports indicate that the charging case may also undergo some changes, possibly becoming slightly smaller and replacing the physical Bluetooth pairing and reset buttons with touch-capacitive alternatives.
Performance improvements anticipated
The AirPods Pro 3 is rumored to feature Apple’s new H3 chip, which would allow for improved sound quality, enhanced active noise cancellation, and better voice-calling performance. This upgrade is expected alongside a design modification of the earbuds’ acoustic architecture and microphones.
Predictions suggest that the earbuds will deliver clearer sound with improved bass definition and better background noise reduction during calls. There are also expectations for slightly enhanced battery life.
Current AirPods models, including the AirPods Pro 2 and Powerbeats Pro 2, support ultralow-latency audio and true lossless audio when paired with Apple’s Vision Pro headset. There is speculation about a solution to offer lossless audio capabilities to the AirPods Pro 3 when connected to iPhones, iPads, and Macs, although this feature is not confirmed.
Desired enhancements for AirPods Pro 3
Some users express a desire for features such as a Bluetooth transmitter capability in the charging case, allowing audio streaming from inflight entertainment systems. Several competing true wireless earbuds already incorporate this feature, which connects to in-flight seat consoles.
Additionally, there is a call for Apple to offer extra-large ear tips for better sound quality and noise cancellation, especially for users with varying ear sizes. The introduction of a fifth extra-large ear tip would require the charging case to accommodate its dimensions.
