Nintendo’s anticipated announcement regarding the price of the Switch 2 may have been leaked by a Costco employee through an internal product listing, as reported by Nintendo Wire. This leak appears weeks ahead of the Nintendo Direct scheduled for April 2.
Costco leak details
A Canadian Costco employee shared images of an internal product listing and an in-store price tag labeled “Nintendo Switch Place Holder,” although the price tag contains a misspelling, reading “Palce Holder.” These images were circulated on Famiboards.
The internal listing shows a price of $499 CAD, which is $100 higher than the original Nintendo Switch and $50 more than the Switch OLED model sold in Canada. In comparison, the current retail prices for the Switch and OLED models in the U.S. are $299 and $349, respectively.
If the leaked listing refers to the Switch 2, it implies a potential launch price of approximately $399 USD. This aligns with estimates previously provided by analysts and insiders, who have projected this price for several months.
Nintendo mentioned in a recent investor meeting that it will consider “affordable prices that consumers expect from Nintendo products” when introducing the Switch 2.

Possible scenarios
Despite the implications of the leak, there remain possibilities that the product listing pertains to an unannounced bundle for the original Switch, could be a system error, or may have originated from incorrect information provided by the employee.
The official confirmation or denial regarding the price of the Switch 2 is expected on April 2 during the next Nintendo Direct presentation.
