Apple is preparing to launch the fourth generation of its iPhone SE, expected in March or April 2025, with a new design potentially featuring Dynamic Island technology previously available on higher-end models.
New design elements for iPhone SE 4
The iPhone SE 4 is rumored to introduce a unique design rather than following the older models’ aesthetic. According to leaker Evan Blass on X, a recent report shows an image suggesting the inclusion of a Dynamic Island at the top of the display, contrary to earlier beliefs that the device would feature a cut-out design.
The Dynamic Island, which provides timely information that adjusts in size, is currently used in the iPhone 14 Pro models, all four iPhone 15 models, and all four iPhone 16 models. In contrast, previous iPhone SE models typically incorporated simpler components housed in an older design framework to maintain affordability.
Technical specifications and features
Specifications for the new iPhone SE suggest it will have a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, an updated A-series chip, and increased RAM up to 8GB for Apple Intelligence support. It will also debut an Apple-designed 5G modem.
Ming-Chi Kuo, an Apple supply chain analyst, indicated that the release of the iPhone SE 4 is likely to occur around the quarter mark of 2025, aligning with the launch schedule of the previous three SE models.

Comparison with existing models
The current iPhone SE resembles the iPhone 8, featuring outdated elements such as a Touch ID button, a Lightning port, and thick bezels. The retail price starts at $429, with a slight increase anticipated for the upcoming model.
Additionally, reports from Blass have mentioned the potential announcement of new iPad Air and entry-level iPad 11 models during the same time frame, though those devices are not expected to feature notable design changes.
Images associated with the new iPhone SE reveal a layout that may not confirm the alternative name “iPhone 16E,” rumored for the device; instead, the source code indicates it as “iPhone SE (4th Gen).” However, this name may be a placeholder.
