Apple Music Replay 2024 has launched, offering an enriched experience for users reflecting their music habits over the year. Released on December 3, 2024, the feature caters to both casual listeners and artists. Apple Music users can access their individual Replay experiences through the Music app on devices with iOS 18.1 or later or via the replay.music.apple.com website for others.

Apple Music Replay 2024: Enhanced features and artist insights

This year, substantial changes have enhanced the Replay feature. Notably, Apple introduced an exclusive Replay for artists, providing insights such as the most discovered songs via Shazam and geographical data on their listener base. Users can now access expanded “Top Listeners” rankings, which allow them to see if they rank among the top 500 or 1000 listeners for specific artists or genres, a significant increase from the previous limit of 100. Additionally, the new “streaks” feature reveals the longest consecutive days a user listened to music from the service, including extended periods for particular artists. Another advancement is the “date of first play,” which tells users when they initially discovered songs, artists, or albums that defined their listening experience in 2024.

Highlights of Apple Music Replay 2024

The global data shared by Apple Music highlights the most listened-to songs during the year. The top five streamed songs globally are dominated by diverse artists:

  • 1. “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
  • 2. “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone
  • 3. “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter
  • 4. “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” by Shaboozey
  • 5. “Cruel Summer” by Taylor Swift

Additionally, users showed significant interest in lyrics, with the top five most-read lyrics including:

  • 1. “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” by Creepy Nuts
  • 2. “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar
  • 3. “Espresso” by Sabrina Carpenter
  • 4. “Birds of a Feather” by Billie Eilish
  • 5. “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone

Moreover, the most Shazam-ed songs are listed as follows:

  • 1. “Beautiful Things” by Benson Boone
  • 2. “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims
  • 3. “Gotta Only” by FloyyMenor and Cris Mj
  • 4. “The Sound of Silence (CYRIL Remix)” by Disturbed
  • 5. “i like the way you kiss me” by Artemis

Comparative performance with Spotify Wrapped

This year is regarded as a turning point in the ongoing competition between Apple Music Replay and Spotify Wrapped. While Spotify has historically attracted attention for its year-end summaries, many users expressed disappointment with their 2024 version. Users criticized Spotify Wrapped for prioritizing an AI podcast feature over traditional insights and creative presentations that had defined previous iterations. Reports indicate that users deemed Spotify Wrapped 2024 as “boring,” “a flop,” and generally underwhelming.

In contrast, Apple Music’s Replay implementation retains users within the app on iPhones and iPads, significantly improving accessibility. Despite some instances where a web login may still be required for users on other devices, the overall Replay experience has been positively received for its shareable content and detailed statistical insights on individual listening habits.
