Later next week, probably on November 13, Sony’s latest hardware release, the PlayStation 5 Pro, will hit shelves with performance enhancements. November 7th will be the presentation of the console. Official specs for the new console have leaked in recent months, showcasing a mid generation powerhouse poised to greatly eclipse the original Ps5’s capabilities in terms of gaming experience.
The PlayStation 5 Pro will keep offering that custom AMD Ryzen Zen 2 processor, this time with 8 cores and 16 threads, backed up by a proper potent RDNA chipset. The PS5 Pro delves into entry level PC graphics card territory with 16.7 teraflops (TFLOPS) of graphical power, just shy of the 22 TFLOPS of NVIDIA’s RTX 4060. 16GB of GDDR6 dedicated to graphics and 2GB DDR5 RAM for use on other tasks speeds up multitasking and processing altogether.
PlayStation 5 Pro launching next week?
Let’s continue looking at the general specifications of the PlayStation 2 Pro, which is expected to hit shelves in 5 days, according to Digital Foundry. In terms of storage, the PS5 Pro comes equipped with a 2TB custom SSD, doubling over the original PS5’s capacity, and affording a lot of room for games, updates, and media files now. To meet the higher performance demands, the upgraded hardware will work with a 390W power supply, up from the PS5’s 350W, which meets the previous version’s specifications. The PS5 Pro even adds WiFi 7 and an additional USB-C port for even better connectivity suited to the gamer looking for faster internet speeds and today’s peripherals.
First debuting on the PS5 Pro is PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), Sony’s new upscaling tool that takes supported games to boost resolution and detail. The base PS5 can render at 90 FPS in 4K resolution, so Sony says this upgrade, alongside other graphical improvements, brings a 45% boost in the rendering speed, and up to triple the ray tracing performance. More immersive visuals and realistic lighting effects will now be possible on games built to reap full benefits of the Pro’s refined components.
