WhatsApp is working on two new features that aim to improve your privacy and control over who can contact you: usernames and PINs.

We have been waiting for the WhatsApp Usernames for a while

According to WABetaInfo, A username is a unique name you choose for yourself. Instead of sharing your phone number, you’ll be able to use this username to connect with others on WhatsApp. This means you can chat with people without giving away your personal phone number.

Using a username provides an extra layer of privacy. It allows you to keep your phone number private while still staying in touch with friends, family, or new contacts.

Need an extra security layer for your chats?

A PIN (Personal Identification Number) is a secret code that you set up. Before anyone can start a chat with you, they’ll need to enter this PIN. It’s like having a key that only you and those you trust know.

The PIN feature is designed to give you even more control over who can contact you. If you want to prevent unwanted messages or spam, a PIN ensures that only people who have the code can start a conversation with you. This extra step helps keep your chats more secure and private.

What’s next?

Both usernames and PINs are still being developed, so they aren’t available yet. WhatsApp hasn’t announced when these features will be released, but many people are excited about them. They promise to make chatting on WhatsApp more private and secure.
