With this article, you can learn how to unlock FFXIV Facewear easily. In Final Fantasy 14 (FF14), Facewear introduces a new way for players to accessorize their characters with stylish glasses and eyewear without sacrificing the stats provided by their combat gear.

How to unlock FFXIV Facewear in 6 easy steps

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to unlock and start using Facewear in the game:

Locate the Calamity Salvager

The first step is to find the Calamity Salvager NPC. You can find the Calamity Salvager in each of the three main cities in FF14:

  • Limsa Lominsa: Upper Decks (11.4, 14.4)
  • Gridania: Old Gridania (10, 8.4)
  • Ul’dah: Steps of Thal (12.6, 13.1)

Speak to the Calamity Salvager

Once you’ve located the Calamity Salvager in your chosen city, interact with them to open a dialogue window.

Navigate to Spectacles Exchange

Inside the dialogue window, navigate through the options presented by the Calamity Salvager. The specific option you’re looking for is called Spectacles Exchange. This option will appear towards the end of their list of services.

Select Spectacles Exchange

Choose the Spectacles Exchange option from the list. This action will unlock the Facewear menu in your Character customization options.

Convert Existing Glasses and Spectacles

As a bonus, speaking to the Calamity Salvager and selecting Spectacles Exchange will automatically convert any glasses, spectacles, or sunglasses you currently possess in your Fashion Accessories collection to the new Facewear option. This ensures that all your previously acquired eyewear can now be worn in the Facewear slot.

Obtain Facewear from Gold Saucer

To expand your Facewear collection, you can purchase various styles of glasses and spectacles from the Gold Saucer. These include:

  • Thick-rimmed Glasses: 30,000 MGP
  • Contemporary Pince-nez: 40,000 MGP
  • Rimless Glasses: 70,000 MGP
  • Minstrel’s Spectacles: 90,000 MGP
  • Oval Spectacles: 100,000 MGP

Additionally, simpler options like Simple Spectacles and Monocles are available for purchase with gil from Bango Zango in Limsa Lominsa (9.9, 11.4).

How to use FFXIV Facewear

After unlocking Facewear and acquiring your desired styles:

  • Open the Character Menu: Press C on your keyboard or use the controller equivalent to open the Character menu.
  • Navigate to Facewear Slot: Locate the Facewear slot on the left side of the Character menu, below the Feet slot.
  • Choose Your Style: Select the desired Facewear item from the Style box within the Facewear slot.
  • Customize: Adjust the color of your Facewear using the Color options available.
  • Equip and Save: Once you’ve chosen your Facewear style and color, select Equip. To make this a permanent addition to a gear set, click on Update Gear Set in the upper right corner of the menu.
