Valve surprised gamers with the Hori Steam Controller. Developed by Hori, these controllers went on sale as a completely official product.
This new controller, called Wireless Horipad for Steam, especially appeals to Steam Deck users. So, how does this controller differ from the others? Here’s all we know…
Hori Steam Controller: Features, price, and release date
The Hori Steam Controller is based on the buttons and design of Steam Deck. Menu buttons, touch sensors, and even the Steam button are all on the controller. Some of the buttons are also customizable. Bluetooth is used for wireless connectivity, and USB-C for wired connectivity.
Although the Hori Steam Controller’s design is unusual, the black, white, yellow, and purple color options are quite striking. As mentioned above, the device, which offers Bluetooth and USB-3 connectivity options, is generally similar to today’s gaming handles.
The number of people playing games on the Steam platform using gamepads is increasing. Valve also provides regular updates for these users. Although Hori’s new controller was not developed by Valve, it is an officially licensed Steam product and is likely to attract a lot of attention. It is expected to become popular among Steam users, especially if it becomes available worldwide.
Hori Steam Controller: Release date and price
Expected to be released on October 31, 2024, the Hori Steam Controller will first be available in Japan. It is unclear when the controller, which will take its place on the shelves with a price tag of approximately 60 dollars, will reach other countries.
The increasing number of users using gamepads to play games on the Steam platform will increase interest in Hori’s new controller. With this controller, Steam Deck users will be able to have a similar experience on PC. Hori’s new controller could gain an important place in the Steam ecosystem and lead to the development of similar products for other platforms.
