  • WhatsApp is working on a chatbot integrated into the search bar and AI-powered image editing tools.
  • The chatbot can instantly find answers to complex questions and edit images on the platform.
  • AI-powered image editing tools can change backgrounds, customize styles, and expand images.
  • Both features are in beta, and it is unknown when they will be available.

Popular messaging app WhatsApp is working on two new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features to improve the user experience: a chatbot integrated into the search bar and AI-powered image editing tools.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the new features of WhatsApp.

Chatbot in the WhatsApp’s search bar

The addition of a chatbot to the search bar will allow users to instantly find answers to complex questions and easily organize images on the platform. AI models will understand queries typed directly into the search bar and provide quick responses. Users will be able to interact directly with AI without the need to open a separate chat room.

Assistants with different personalities

The chatbot can be customized for different personalities and areas of expertise. For example, history buffs will have instant access to historical information, while sports fans will have instant access to the latest sports news. The ability to use popular personalities such as Snoop Dogg as an assistant is also an exciting option.

AI-powered image editing

WhatsApp is working on three new AI-powered image editing tools: Backdrop, Restyle, and Expand. Backdrop will allow users to change the background of an image with text commands. Restyle will be able to completely change the style of an image using art filters and effects. Expanding will allow AI to expand images and fill in gaps.

Both features are in beta

These exciting new features are currently in beta and available to early testers. Their full functionality and when they will be available are unknown. However, this development has the potential for WhatsApp to reach the level of artificial intelligence on Instagram and could be a great convenience for users.

Final thoughts

WhatsApp’s new AI-powered features have the potential to improve the user experience significantly. The chatbot in the search bar and AI-powered image editing tools will make the platform more functional and fun.
