The online buzz around Sony’s rumored PS5 Pro has reached a fever pitch, with new leaks fueling speculation about a mid-generation console upgrade.

However, it seems Sony isn’t just focused on the potential console – they’re on a mission to determine how sensitive information is leaking out to the public.

Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson indicates Sony has launched an internal investigation dedicated to finding the source of these leaks.

Detective Sony is on the case

Fresh leaks and insider reports have added new details to these whispers, including potential specifications.

Now, Tom Henderson suggests Sony is on high alert, with an internal investigation underway to find the source of these potential information breaches.

As expected, Sony has launched an internal investigation into the leaked documents on Trinity as it leaked during a third-party rollout.

Not sure on the implications yet as I don't think they can catch one individual, but Sony could reduce its third-party developer pool for new…

Although Sony has not made any statement to confirm the leaks, we can say that the investigation initiated proves the accuracy of at least some of the information we have.

What do the leaks say?

Sony’s heightened concern likely stems from the detailed nature of recent leaks. Speculation about a ‘High CPU Frequency Mode’ and significant GPU upgrades, if accurate, reveals key development areas for the potential console.

  • CPU:
    • Similar architecture to the standard PS5 CPU
    • “High CPU Frequency Mode” with a potential 10% speed boost (reaching 3.85GHz)
  • GPU:
    • Major focus of upgrades
    • Leaks suggest a potential 33.5 teraflops processing power (a significant jump from the PS5’s 10.28 teraflops)
  • Memory:
    • Increased memory bandwidth and efficiency compared to the standard PS5
  • Audio:
    • Enhancements to audio processing for richer soundscapes and better 3D audio
  • Other potential features:
    • PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling for sharper visuals
    • Custom anti-aliasing technology to reduce jagged edges in games
    • Possible AI acceleration hardware for advanced in-game features

It’s crucial to remember these specs remain speculation until Sony confirms them. However, Sony’s internal inquiry demonstrates the company’s commitment to protecting its intellectual property and maintaining control over its product development.
