The world’s leading audio streaming platform Spotify has just announced that they are introducing music videos to their service.

Spotify continues to delight music lovers with surprising new features like its playful Song Psychic, further enhancing its popular app.

In the beta rollout, Spotify Premium subscribers in select markets now have the exciting ability to watch music videos directly within the Spotify app.

Which markets are getting Spotify’s music video upgrade?

While this feature isn’t yet available globally, the beta rollout is substantial. Spotify is carefully expanding by launching music videos in the following 11 countries:

  • Europe: Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and the UK
  • Latin America: Brazil and Colombia
  • Southeast Asia: Indonesia and the Philippines
  • Africa: Kenya

Premium users in these countries will start seeing the option to watch music videos as the feature gradually becomes available.

How does it work?

Spotify has designed an intuitive experience for accessing music videos.

If you’re a Premium user in one of the supported countries and a music video is available for a track you’re listening to, you’ll spot a “Switch to Video” toggle within the Spotify app.

Switching to video mode will transform your music listening experience into a dynamic visual one

. And don’t worry about your music queue; Spotify cleverly ensures your audio tracks continue to play as planned even after you’ve enjoyed a music video.

Available content

While this is an exciting beta launch, not every song on Spotify has a corresponding music video yet. Spotify is starting with a strong selection of music videos from globally famous artists like Ed Sheeran and emerging stars like Ice Spice.

Local artists from the rollout countries are also starting to feature, making the library even more diverse.

Spotify promises to steadily expand its music video catalog, so you can expect your video options to keep growing over time.
