“It’s been a minute since Franklin Clinton and his notorious crew pulled off heists that rocked Southern San Andreas. Franklin’s settled down in Los Santos, tying the knot, starting a family, and even going corporate with a fancy suit. Meanwhile, Lamar’s been chillin’ hard. But now it’s Lamar’s time to shine, and he’s setting the stage for a legit, above-board business of his own, if he can just get his act together…”
First off, Franklin hooks you up with an invite from Dr. Dre to visit Record A Studios, where you’ll be welcomed and taken on a quick tour by DJ Pooh, setting the stage for your GTA Online Short Trips adventures.
These missions, starring both Franklin and Lamar, require a dynamic duo to kick things off. Initially, you needed to grab an Agency and complete The Contract: Dr. Dre, but as of the Valentine’s Day event in 2022, these missions are open to all, no strings attached.

How to play GTA Online Short Trips
To play Short Trips in GTA Online, follow these steps:
- Access the pause menu: Press the designated button to open the in-game Pause Menu. On most platforms, this is achieved by hitting the “Start” button on consoles or the “Esc” key on PC.
- Navigate to the online tab: Inside the Pause Menu, you’ll see various tabs, including “Online.” Use your controller or mouse to select the “Online” tab.
- Locate jobs: Under the “Online” tab, you’ll find various options, and one of them is “Jobs.” Click on it to proceed.
- Choose “Play Jobs”: In the Jobs section, you’ll see several options for different types of missions, both Rockstar-created and community-generated. Select “Play Jobs” to explore these missions.
- Select “Missions”: Narrow down your choices within the Jobs section by choosing the “Missions” category. This will filter out other mission types and focus on story-driven missions.
- Find and select “Short Trips”: Scroll through the list of missions until you come across the “Short Trips” series. They should be available for selection, allowing you to start these specific missions.
- Invite a partner: Short Trips missions typically require the partnership of two players to commence. Ensure you have a friend or invite someone from your GTA Online friends list to join you in these missions.
- Start the mission: Once you’ve selected a Short Trip mission and have your partner ready, initiate the mission. Follow the mission objectives and storyline to progress through the Short Trip adventure.
