With our humble participation, the UK’s biggest gaming fair, Insomnia Gaming Festival hosted the ALGS Championship 2023, held at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.

The event featured the top 40 international teams, all vying for a chance to be crowned as the Apex Legends Global Series Champions and secure a share of the never-before-seen two-million-dollar prize pool. North American teams dominated, with TSM emerging as the champion, securing their dynasty in the competitive Apex world.

The story of TSM’s triumph in ALGS Championship 2023

TSM‘s victory was nothing short of spectacular, as they secured three consecutive wins in the Match Point Finals. Throughout the eight-round Finals, they performed an extreme and unlikely comeback, ultimately re-establishing themselves as the No.1 team in the world. Despite facing tough competition from teams like OpTic, DreamFire, and BLVKHVND, TSM’s strategic brilliance and clutch performances proved pivotal in their success.

MVP of the championship

One of the most anticipated discussions leading into the event revolved around the title of the greatest player in Apex Legends. Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen of TSM and DarkZero’s Rhys ‘Zer0’ Perry were both strong contenders.

However, with DarkZero falling short, the stage was set for ImperialHal to showcase his exceptional skills. His victory not only solidified his position as a legend in the Apex Legends community but also fulfilled a personal aspiration of winning in front of his family.

The Dojo, led by Timothy ‘iiTzTimmy’ An, exceeded all expectations by securing a fourth-place finish, a remarkable achievement for a team that had come through the last-chance qualifier. Here’s the full list of final standings, which displays the NA dominance further.

For those unfamiliar: The tournament format

The format of the ALGS Championship 2023 closely mirrored that of the previous year, with a group stage featuring a double-elimination bracket format. Teams were seeded based on Playoff Points earned throughout the season or their performance in the Last Chance Qualifier. Following the group stage, the top 20 teams advanced to the winner’s bracket, while the remaining 20 entered the loser’s bracket. The finals adopted a match point format, with teams striving to reach 50 points for eligibility, and the first eligible team to secure a win claiming the championship.
