Apple enthusiasts have something to look forward to with the upcoming iOS 17 release – a delightful array of new iPhone ringtones! According to a report from 9to5Mac, the iOS 17 release candidate (RC) is poised to introduce a slew of additional ringtone options, promising users an expanded sonic palette.

Assuming these changes remain intact in the official release, you can expect to choose from a host of new sounds very soon.

New iPhone ringtones will arrive with iOS 17

With iOS 17, users can revel in over 20 fresh “ringtone options and sound alerts,” as reported by 9to5Mac. One particular standout is the “Journey” ringtone, reminiscent of a tune straight out of a classic RPG – it’s bound to resonate with fans of the genre.

In addition to the influx of new tones, certain older sounds have received a “slight remastering.” Meanwhile, some familiar tones have found a new home in the “classic” section within the ringtones and sounds settings menus.

When is the iOS 17 release date?

Following the iPhone 15 announcement on Tuesday, Apple has also made iOS 17 RC available to developers and public beta testers. iOS 17, as you may know, brings new features such as Contact Poster, NameDrop, and StandBy mode. But the RC build released to developers today also adds multiple new (and some remastered) ringtones for the iPhone.

Mark your calendars for September 18th, when iOS 17 is set to be released to the public. If you’re eager to get your hands on the RC, you’ll need to hop onto an iOS 17 beta track.

The following devices support both the developer and public betas of iOS 17:

  • iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max
  • iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
  • iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR
  • iPhone SE (second generation or later)

Hence, if your model is one of the listed ones above, make sure to check out our guide on how to get the beta and get started with the new iPhone ringtones!

Marking a first

Except for a new ringtone that was added to iOS with the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, this is the first time Apple has brought out new ringtones since iOS 7 in 2013. And unlike in 2017, the new ringtones are available for all iPhone models compatible with iOS 17. This means you can use them even without having to buy an iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Pro.

Both iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 will be available to download on Monday, September 18. iOS 17 is compatible with iPhone XR and later, while iPadOS 17 requires an iPad with an A10 Bionic chip or later. Developers and beta testers can now download the RC build.

With iOS 17 on the horizon, Apple users can anticipate a fresh auditory experience with an exciting array of new iPhone ringtones. Whether you’re drawn to the enchanting melodies or the reimagined classics, this update promises to add a touch of musical flair to your iPhone.

With the release date set for September 18th, whether you’re upgrading to the latest iPhone model or staying loyal to your current device, iOS 17’s fresh ringtones promise to elevate your mobile experience. So, get ready to embrace the musical innovations coming your way!
