If you’re an adventurer in World of Warcraft with a knack for solving mysteries and preserving artifacts, then the Preserving Rarities WoW quest is right up your alley.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to successfully complete this quest and earn your place among the preservationists.
How to start and complete the Preserving Rarities WoW quest?
To kick off your journey, make your way to the Roasted Ram in Valdrakken. You can easily spot this location by looking for the Secrets of Azeroth event icon. Inside the Roasted Ram, a select few are unraveling the Secrets of Azeroth, and you’re about to join their ranks.
Clue 1 – A Preservationist
As mentioned above, you need to speak with Preservationist Kathos to begin the Preserving Rarities WoW quest. To do so and other objectives of the quest, check out our instructions below.
- Start your journey: Begin by heading to the Valdrakken Inn and seek out Preservationist Kathos. She’s your point of contact for the “Preserving Rarities” quest.
- The mystery box: Engage in conversation with Kathos and choose the dialogue option to receive a special item, A Mystery Box, which will appear in your inventory. Open this box to reveal two key items: the Golden Chalice and A Clue: The Golden Chalice.
- Follow the clue: The clue will lead you to the inn’s bar, where you’ll find Bobby Carlisle. Speak with him, and he’ll guide you to the Valdrakken bank.
- Place the Chalice: Inside the bank, look to your left. There, you’ll find the perfect spot to place the Golden Chalice, positioned to the right of the Guild Bank. Interact with this spot to deposit the chalice, completing your quest objective.
- Return to Kathos: With the chalice securely placed, return to Preservationist Kathos and turn in the quest. Completing this step will earn you “The Preservationist” portion of the meta-achievement.
Clue 2 – Ceremonial Spear
The second phase of the Preserving Rarities WoW quest will begin when you return to Kathos. To complete the quest from then on, follow this guideline:
- Receive the spear: Kathos will hand you a Tuskarr Ceremonial Spear, instructing you to seek out someone in Iskaara capable of deciphering its mysterious etchings.
- Consult Elder Poa: Travel to Iskaara in the Azure Span and locate Elder Poa within the inn. She’ll reveal that the spear’s origins trace back to Northrend’s Kalu’ak tribe. After this discussion, the spear transforms into Shomko’s Unyielding Spear, signaling the next leg of your journey.
- Venture to Northrend: Fly to Mo’aki Harbor, situated in the southern middle portion of Dragonblight in Northrend. Inside the inn, you’ll find Elder Ko’nami.
- Spear insights: Inquire about the spear with Elder Ko’nami, and he’ll provide you with a drawing, shedding light on its history. It belonged to a Kalu’ak Tuskarr who ventured west and founded a settlement in Borean Tundra. He’ll also give you a drawing of a monument where you can uncover more information.
- Discover the monument: Journey to the far southwest region of Borean Tundra, just west of Warsong Hold. Use coordinates /way #114 33.5 58.3 as your guide. Here, you’ll discover a rock shaped like a Tuskarr with a designated place to insert the Ceremonial Spear. Doing so will unlock The Inquisitive achievement. Be prepared for a Looter mob to attack you; defeating it will yield a Looter’s Purse containing gold.
With these detailed steps, you’ll have a clear path to completing both Clue 1 and Clue 2 of the “Preserving Rarities” quest in World of Warcraft. Happy adventuring!
