Step into a virtual realm of limitless possibilities as Roblox, the popular social metaverse platform, arrives on Meta’s Quest VR headsets; Oculus Quest 2 and Quest Pro. In an exciting announcement earlier this month, Roblox and Meta revealed that the awaited integration was on the horizon.
As of July 27, users can experience this virtual display firsthand as the platform opens its beta version for the Meta Quest.
How to access Roblox on Oculus Quest 2 and Quest Pro?
The process is actually quite simple. VR users can dive into the Roblox universe by easily downloading the app from the Quest Store. Technically, the app is accessible through Meta’s App Lab, which serves as the gateway to a multitude of immersive experiences. Once installed on your VR headset, you can effortlessly sign in to your existing account and enter Roblox’s diverse world of entertainment. However, please note that creating a new account directly on the Quest is not yet available, as stated in a recent post on the Roblox developer forum.
As with any beta release, Roblox and Meta are seeking to optimize the platform’s VR experiences by allowing developers to test and fine-tune their creations. While this approach ensures a more polished and seamless experience in the long run, there are a few known issues during this initial phase. Notably, the ability to purchase Robux, the in-game currency, is not yet enabled. Additionally, personalized recommendations for experiences are not currently accessible, and users may encounter occasional graphics distortion. The full list announced by the gaming platform is as follows:
Robux purchasing on device – Buying Robux will not be available in the Open Beta. Users can still purchase items, but they will not be able to buy additional Robux using their Meta Quest device. We will support purchasing Robux while using a Meta Quest device soon.
Password sign in and account creation is not supported on Meta Quest devices. Sign in to your existing Roblox account* using the Quick Login 192 option on your computer or phone.
Distorted graphics – There is a rare issue where the graphics in an experience can get heavily distorted
Recommendations – We do not currently offer personalized recommendations in the “Recommended for You” list.
Experience rating – Up / down voting on experiences on the Experience Details page is disabled during Open Beta to give developers time to adjust their games.
Graphics performance – We will continue to optimize performance in the app
Abuse reporting – Users can report abuse from Roblox UI but not via the button
The open beta of Roblox is currently compatible with Quest 2 and Quest Pro devices. Excitingly, Meta has confirmed that once the forthcoming Quest 3 is launched, Roblox will also be readily available on that cutting-edge headset.
The combination of the gaming platform’s limitless creative potential and the immersive power of VR opens up a new dimension of entertainment for millions of users. From breathtaking worlds designed by skilled creators to captivating adventures crafted by players themselves, the possibilities within the metaverse are seemingly infinite.
As the open beta unfolds, players can expect regular updates and improvements, as the two companies actively work towards refining the VR experience. This collaboration aims to create an environment that fosters innovation, community engagement, and unforgettable moments within the metaverse.
Whether you’re exploring diverse worlds, competing in exciting challenges, or simply socializing with friends in the virtual domain, Roblox on Meta Quest VR headsets promises an amazingly immersive adventure. Embrace this groundbreaking union of technology and imagination, as you step into a world where the only limits are those of your own creativity.
