In response to the recent launch of Meta’s microblogging platform, Threads memes have caused a stir among netizens worldwide. Within just a few hours of its debut, over 30 million users from more than 100 countries rushed to sign up.

Consequently, the arrival of Threads has ignited a meme frenzy on Twitter, with users playfully comparing this new social media platform to its competitors.

Threads allows users to seamlessly sign up using their existing Instagram profiles, importing their bio and network of friends and followers. This ease of access and Meta’s reputation attracted a massive influx of users, making Threads an instant hit. Nevertheless, the online community wasted no time in expressing their creativity through humorous and satirical memes, as they shared their experiences navigating both apps.

Twitter users, known as Twitterati, had a field day creating and sharing memes that hilariously depicted their encounters with the Threads app. One popular meme featured a photo of a barber meticulously threading a customer’s eyebrows, humorously illustrating the experience of using Threads.

Netizens found delight in employing other well-known memes to encapsulate their interactions with both social media platforms. Amusingly, many users pointed out the uncanny resemblance of Threads’ logo to a jalebi, a traditional Indian sweet treat, adding an extra layer of lightheartedness to the discussions.

Is it just a coincidence ?

Elon Musk vs. Mark Zuckerberg: The cage match

Prior to the frenzy of Threads memes, speculation circulated about a potential clash between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, the billionaires behind Twitter and Meta, respectively. On June 21, Musk responded to a tweet with an amusing statement: “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.” Zuckerberg, not one to shy away from such banter, shared a screenshot of Musk’s tweet, playfully replying, “send me location.”

Musk then cheekily suggested “Vegas Octagon” as the venue, teasingly describing his hypothetical move, “The Walrus,” where he playfully claims to immobilize his opponent. Even Lex Fridman, a Russian American computer scientist, and podcaster, got in on the action by joking about conducting training sessions with the two tech moguls.

The launch of Meta’s Threads app has sparked a wave of excitement among netizens globally. As users flocked to sign up for the new microblogging platform, Twitter became the playground for an array of memes capturing the humor and comparisons between Threads and other social media platforms.

The lighthearted banter between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg only added to the online buzz surrounding this highly anticipated rivalry. With the ongoing innovation in the social media landscape, it’s evident that users will continue to find creative ways to engage and express themselves, making the internet an entertaining and dynamic space.

The most recent development of this sequence of banter has been Elon Musk calling Zuckerberg a “cuck” in a tweet, if you wish to check out. Although the incident didn’t cause so much of a backlash or outrage by now, it still seems to be a rather significant comeback for the banter between the two millionaires, most likely to be followed by new memes in addition to the Threads memes.
