  • AMD Radeon RX 7600 is introduced as an entry-level GPU priced at $269, designed for smooth 1080p gaming experiences at 60fps.
  • The RX 7600 undercuts its predecessor, the RX 6600, and is the first sub-$300 option in the Radeon RX 7000 series, placing it in direct competition with Nvidia’s RTX 4060 and RTX 4060Ti.
  • AMD highlights the RX 7600’s superior memory speed and core count, while its support for DisplayPort 2.1 and affordability make it attractive for first-time PC builders and gamers playing less demanding titles. The GPU is claimed to outperform the RX 6600 by approximately 29% and offers comparable VRAM to Nvidia’s counterpart.

AMD Radeon RX 7600 is finally unveiled. It is an entry-level graphics device priced at $269, powered by their advanced RDNA 3 architecture. The RX 7600, introduced on Wednesday, is specifically designed to deliver smooth 1080p gaming experiences at a target frame rate of 60fps, catering to budget-conscious gamers who don’t prioritize 4K performance.

AMD Radeon RX 7600: Specs

What sets the AMD Radeon RX 7600 apart is its price point, as it becomes the first desktop GPU in the Radeon RX 7000 series to offer a sub-$300 option. Not only does it undercut the initial price of the RX 6600, which debuted at $329, but reports from VideoCardz indicate that AMD made a last-minute decision to further reduce the price from $299.

Interestingly, the announcement of the AMD Radeon RX 7600 came just days after Nvidia unveiled their own offerings in the 1080p market: the $299 RTX 4060 and the $399 RTX 4060Ti. This places the RX 7600 in direct competition with Nvidia’s similarly positioned GPUs.

Gamers eagerly anticipating the Radeon RX 7600 won’t have to wait long, as it is set to hit the shelves starting May 25th. Key specifications of the RX 7600 include 32 compute units, 8GB of GDDR6 RAM, a base clock speed of 2.25GHz, a boosted clock speed of 2.66GHz, and a power consumption rating of 165W. These specifications closely align with those of the RX 6600 XT, while offering a significantly lower price compared to its original introductory price of $379.

In its marketing materials, the brand highlights the AMD Radeon RX 7600 GPU’s advantages over its predecessor, the RX 6600. The company emphasizes two key improvements: superior memory speed and a higher core count. The RX 7600 boasts a memory speed of 18Gbps compared to the RX 6600’s 14Gbps, providing users with faster and more efficient performance. Additionally, the RX 7600 features 2048 cores, surpassing the RX 6600’s 1792 cores, which translates to enhanced processing capabilities.

One notable feature of the AMD Radeon RX 7600 is its support for DisplayPort 2.1. However, AMD clarifies that the integration of this feature into specific designs will be the responsibility of their board partners.

The RX 7600 is specifically aimed at several target audiences. First, it appeals to those who are building their first gaming PC, providing them with an affordable and capable GPU option. Second, it caters to gamers who enjoy less-demanding titles like Fortnite, offering a reliable and efficient graphics solution for their gaming needs.

According to AMD’s claims, the Radeon RX 7600 demonstrates impressive performance in specific gaming scenarios. When running Star Wars Jedi: Survivor at maximum settings, it is said to achieve a frame rate of 76fps, while in The Last of Us Part I, it can achieve 62fps, both at 1080p resolution. AMD asserts that the RX 7600 should deliver approximately 29 percent better performance than the RX 6600 when operating 1080p games with maximum settings. Furthermore, AMD states that the RX 7600 can complete Stable Diffusion workloads up to 1.63 times faster than its predecessor, the RX 6600.

AMD Radeon RX 7600: Price and release date

Comparing the RX 7600 to Nvidia’s RTX 4060, both GPUs are equipped with 8GB of VRAM. However, the lower price of the RX 7600 may give it a competitive advantage over Nvidia’s offering.

As modern games become increasingly demanding and GPU memory usage approaches its limits, some PC gamers have expressed concerns regarding the utility of 8GB graphics cards. While an increase to 12GB of VRAM would have been desirable for enhanced longevity, it is important to consider the RX 7600’s price point, where such choices may be constrained. The hardware is available starting today.
