Google Pixel 7a vs 6a: Design
The Pixel 7a and Pixel 6a have a similar appearance with a camera visor on the back and don’t stand out from one another. The Pixel 7a, like its more expensive siblings, features an aluminum chassis that integrates into the visor, unlike the Pixel 6a, which has a glass visor.
The 6.1-inch OLED screen on the Pixel 7a and Pixel 7a has some bezels, but nothing to be concerned about. The display supports HDR playback and has a resolution of 2,400×1,080 pixels and a 20:9 aspect ratio. Additionally, the selfie camera has a punch-hole cutout in the upper center.
The Pixel 7a boasts a smoother refresh rate of 90Hz compared to the Pixel 6a’s 60Hz. The Pixel 7a’s user interface should be a lot better than the Pixel 6a’s, which could feel a touch sluggish when scrolling and swiping.
Google Pixel 7a vs 6a: Performance and battery
The Pixel 7a is powered by a Tensor G2 processor from Google. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro use the same processor. The second-generation Tensor chip offers some performance improvements, improved efficiency, and stronger machine learning capabilities, therefore it is an improvement over the Pixel 6a, which uses the first-generation Tensor processor.
The internal storage of the Pixel 7a and Pixel 6a is still 128GB. While the Pixel 6a has 6GB of RAM, the Pixel 7a does have 8GB of RAM. Google guarantees three years of Android upgrades and five years of security fixes for the Pixel 7a, which ships with Android 13. The Pixel 6a initially shipped with Android 12, however, it may now be upgraded to Android 13.
The 4385mAh battery in the Pixel 7a is a little bit smaller than the 4500mAh battery in the Pixel 6a. The Pixel ‘a’ series smartphone now has compatibility for 7.5W wireless charging, a first. The standard 18W wired charging support is also available, however, you will need to purchase the charger separately.
Google Pixel 7a vs 6a: Camera
The Google Pixel 7a not only offers a better camera than its forerunners but also the previous Pixel ‘a’ series smartphone generations. The 12.2MP primary sensor of the Pixel 6a is replaced with a 64MP primary sensor of the Pixel 7a. Instead of a 12MP camera, it is now partnered with a 13MP ultrawide camera.
Despite quad-binning the images, the 64MP camera still takes 16MP photographs, which are more detailed than the 12MP ones. Additionally, a bigger sensor should be able to take photographs in low light considerably better.
The selfie camera has also been improved, moving from the Pixel 6a’s 8MP sensor to one with a 13MP sensor.
Google Pixel 7a vs 6a: Price
The Pixel 6a originally cost $449, however, Google reduced the price to $349 to coincide with the release of the Pixel 7a. Given that some merchants were selling the Pixel 6a for less than $300, it’s probable that the greatest Pixel 6a bargains may result in an even deeper price reduction. (Since it happened right before the Pixel 7a debut, it may have been shops seeking to move inventory.)
The Pixel 7a is $50 more expensive than the Pixel 6a when it first launched a year ago, but as we’ll see below, several additional features make up for the increased price. And although the Pixel 7a costs more than its predecessor, you can still have a top-tier midrange phone for less than $500.
