Pokemon Go Shaymin first appeared in 2022, and it has two distinct forms. Whether you’re seeking the Land or Sky variant of the legendary’mon, here’s all you need to know about Pokemon Go Shaymin.
The advent of a new Legendary or Mythical Pokemon in Pokemon Go is always exciting, partly because it’s a chance to fill up your Pokedex, and partly because they may be incredibly good in PvP and Raids.
Pokemon Go Shaymin, the Sinnoh region’s Gratitude Pokemon, is one of the most recent Mythical animals to be added to Pokemon Go. Adding one to your collection, like other Mythicals and Legendary Pokemon, will need more than merely discovering it in the wild.
In Pokemon Go, there are two separate forms of Shaymin to find: Land Forme and Sky Forme, which might make the job much harder. To assist you, we’ve included all of the information you’ll need to capture both types of Shaymin in Pokemon Go below.

How to get Pokemon Go Shaymin?
You’ll need to accomplish certain Special Research activities to obtain Shaymin in Pokemon Go now that the event is available in several locations. In contrast to how Shaymin was incorporated in last year’s Pokemon Go Fest when players had to pay a ticket to encounter the Pokemon, this Special Research will be free for everybody.
“The Special Research story Grass and Gratitude will be available to all Trainers for free beginning during Sustainability Week, starting April 20, 2023, 10:00 a.m. local time!” announced an event synopsis. “Trainers who complete the Special Research will have the opportunity to encounter the Mythical Pokemon Shaymin.”
How to get Land Forme Shaymin in Pokemon Go
Unfortunately for the white hedgehog-like Pokémon, things aren’t looking well.
When your best fast move is Hidden Power, you know that nailing the perfect moveset will be difficult. Getting the desired Hidden Power typing is difficult since once you capture a Pokémon, whatever Hidden Power type it has is locked in for life. Even again, Hidden Power isn’t a particularly quick move in the first place.
Land-Forme Shaymin is a Frenzy Plant Sceptile-Tier grass-type attacker, even if you strike the jackpot and have the perfect moveset. Torterra, Venusaur, Celebi, Tangrowth, Roserade, Tapu Bulu, Zarude, and the finest grass-type megas like Mega Venusaur and the impending Mega Sceptile, which will reshape the grass-type attacking metagame once released, outclass it.
Overall, a somewhat lackluster Pokémon in terms of PvE. And if yours lacks Hidden Power grass, forget about it.
How to get Sky-Forme Shaymin in Pokemon Go
The stats of Sky-Forme Shaymin are more attack-weighted, which is nice. It also gets the ability to fly.
Unfortunately, Hidden Power grass is also its sole potential fast move. Things may change in the future if it has access to Bullet Seed, but for the time being, it can only use Hidden Power Grass as a STAB fast move.
Sky-Forme Shaymin is far superior to its Land-Forme counterpart, outclassing formidable grass-type attackers such as Tapu Bulu and Roserade. However, it is still worse than Zarude and Mega Venusaur (and Mega Sceptile will be added to that list shortly).
Its place in the grass-type meta would be somewhere between Tapu Bulu and Zarude, being roughly as good as shadow Venusaur, shadow Torterra, and shadow Tangrowth. It’s up to you whether or not you power yours up after you acquire it. I’d wait until I got lucky and got a Hidden Power Grass one or if its move changed in the GAME_MASTER file.
That’s all there is to it! It’s a real shame that a mythological Pokemon like Shaymin doesn’t have a better move pool in Pokémon GO.
Having to rely on RNG to decide whether or not to invest in Pokemon Go Shaymin is not what you’d anticipate for this type of Pokémon, but things might change in the future if a move shakeup occurs. Shaymin’s trademark move in the main series games is Seed Flare. However, you will not have to wait until a future event to obtain it this time.
Its current stats are poor, and it’s one of Shaymin’s poorest charge moves, outperforming only Energy Ball. Yes, it’s a trademark move that’s worse than Solar Beam and Grass Knot. Should you TM it or not? For the time being, I would not. You never know what last-minute modifications Niantic has planned…
That’s all there is to know about Pokemon Go Shaymin!
