How to beat Mendez: Resident Evil 4 remake boss guide
You need different approaches to beat Mendez for both mutations.
First mutation
Village Chief Mendez will greet you with a bang as soon as you enter the Slaughterhouse. The Village Chief’s true form will be revealed following the cutscene.
Keep your sights on his noggin during the opening stages of the battle. Try to outrun him while remaining on the ground floor. You can leave him vulnerable to the additional fire by quickly responding to evasive prompts. Here, the Riot Gun really shines. Many containers can be found, so be on the lookout for ammunition and supplies (L).
Mendez’s second mutation will be revealed after he has taken enough hits to the head.

Second mutation
The following stage is considerably less personal. During most of this time, Mendez will hide at the far end of the building and throw objects in your direction. Gather the handgun ammo, flash grenade, kitchen knife, and green herb from the areas above the walkway.
Don’t let Mendez get his hands on any barrels of explosives. When he does, fire your pistol or rifle at them to inflict heavy damage. He will pick up the flaming planks and hurl two of them at you like spears. When that happens, quickly cross the catwalk to safety.

Mendez will eventually rush in from close range. When you hear him approaching, make your way to the opposite side of the walkway. Do some damage by reverting to your shotgun or handgun. In this stage, flash grenades are also effective. To defeat him, you’ll need to knock him down and stab him twice. Overall though, between the Red9 and the Riot Gun, the pace of combat is brisk.

After he dies, quickly search his body for any other valuables you may have missed and take Mendez’s False Eye (worth 12,000 pesetas). The building is on fire but won’t collapse until you’re done here.

The Resident Evil 4 remake boasts stunning visuals and audio, as well as updated gameplay mechanics. The remade Resident Evil 4 features five different attaché cases. Both are only available through pre-ordering or the game’s deluxe edition, which is a bummer. Therefore, you can only get three if you don’t have either of those. As you progress through the story, you’ll gain access to a wide variety of weapons, some of which will return at later points.
