How to fix Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar?

You can try a few fixes before contacting a repair service. Before moving on, perform the following steps to make sure your Samsung soundbar and subwoofer can connect properly. So before we start our fixes for Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem make sure that:

  • Your subwoofer is turned on and working properly
  • Your subwoofer is getting enough power to operate. If not change your electrical output
  • There are no obstacles or walls between your devices and they are close enough to each other
  • Check if your subwoofer is working fine with your other devices

If you are sure that the core of the Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem isn’t one of them here are our fixes:

  1. Reset your Samsung Soundbar
  2. Connect your subwoofer manually
  3. Update your Samsung Soundbar

Reset your Samsung Soundbar

Resetting your Samsung Soundbar will often resolve your connectivity issues therefore resetting your device could be the cure to your Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem. Your subwoofer and soundbar will have to reconnect because this hard reset will return everything to its factory settings. It will function very similarly to the first time you turned them on. It can also solve a lot of connectivity problems.

Resetting both of your devices might resolve Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar errors

Follow these instructions to finish this easy process:

  1. Ensure that a power source is connected to the soundbar
  2. Using the remote control or the power button, turn the soundbar on
  3. Both devices’ power buttons should be held down for a while
  4. Release the power button once the text “INIT OK” appears on the display panel. The soundbar will now start up again

All it takes is that. The automatic connection between your soundbar and subwoofer will now start

Connect your subwoofer manually

Your subwoofer and soundbar could need a manual subwoofer connection. This procedure is straightforward, however, it could take some time to finish but it could be the fix for your Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem.

Follow these instructions to manually connect your Samsung soundbar and subwoofer:

  1. Turn on the soundbar and subwoofer by plugging them into a power source
  2. On the subwoofer’s back, press the ID SET button. You will require a little object, such as a paperclip, to reach this button because it is recessed
    • An ID SET button is typically seen on Samsung subwoofers. You might need to adhere to the specific instructions in your subwoofer’s user manual if your model lacks an “ID SET” button on the back
  3. Hold the ID SET button down until the “STANDBY” light goes out and the “LINK” light (the blue LED on the back panel) starts quickly blinking
  4. At this time, your soundbar should still be off
  5. On the remote control, press and hold the “MUTE” button
    • Like the subwoofer, some Samsung soundbars contain an ID SET button. In some circumstances, you can reset the system by pressing this button. To ensure that you are pressing the appropriate button for your model, check your user manual
  6. Hold down this button until the display panel on the front of your soundbar displays the words “ID SET.”
  7. The front-mounted subwoofer’s blue LED light needs to be blinking
  8. Turn the soundbar on
  9. The front blue LED light on the subwoofer should become solid

Although it could seem like a lengthy procedure, it should only take a little while. If the subwoofer’s blue LED light keeps blinking, the manual connection was unsuccessful. If this method fails often, you will need to go on to the next remedy or call a repair service meaning you are not able to solve your Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem on your own.

Try connecting your devices manually if you experience the Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem

Update your Samsung Soundbar

Your subwoofer might not be connecting because of the firmware on your soundbar. It can be impossible to connect if the versions or upgrades are incompatible until they are updated. Use the model number of your soundbar to search for the most recent firmware on the Samsung website to determine your firmware version. So updating both of your devices could be the solution to your Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem.

Take the following actions to get your soundbar’s firmware version information:

  1. On the remote control, first, push the gear button and just press it once
  2. Then press the gear button once more. Hold it down for around 30 seconds this time
  3. Your remote or display panel will show numbers
  4. The string of numbers that come after the letter “B” stands for the current firmware version that your soundbar is running. Compare this to the most recent firmware version available from Samsung
  5. If these figures don’t line up, the firmware needs to be updated. For firmware updates, you have two choices

USB-based firmware update

Although it can be a little challenging, updating your soundbar’s firmware via the USB port is a straightforward procedure in general. This approach requires a home computer and a USB flash drive to upgrade your firmware.

  1. Go to the Samsung Download Center on your personal computer
  2. Type the model number of your soundbar
  3. On the support website for your soundbar model, look for the firmware file under the “Downloads” section
  4. Select “Download” next to the most recent firmware version
  5. Your home computer will download the file. Once finished, extract the file from your Downloads folder
  6. Transfer the update files necessary to your USB flash drive. They shouldn’t be put in a folder. If the files are on your home computer in a folder, take them out of the folder and put them in the root directory of the USB flash drive. Your soundbar cannot access files contained in directories
  7. Your home computer should now be able to eject the USB flash disk
  8. Moreover, while the soundbar is off, insert the USB flash drive into the USB port on the back of the device
  9. To turn on the soundbar, use the power button or the remote control. To access the USB source, press the source button on either device
  10. A source menu won’t be present on all soundbars. You can simply skip this step and go to the next one if that is the situation with your model
  11. Your soundbar’s display panel will display the word “Upgrade” once the update has begun
  12. At the conclusion of this procedure, the soundbar will shut off
  13. Press and hold the Play/Pause button on your remote control for 5 seconds at this point. Hold down the button until the display screen of your soundbar reads “INIT.” It will switch off the soundbar

This denotes that the update is finished. Connect your devices together and check if your Samsung Subwoofer not connecting to soundbar problem has been solved or not.

  2. Remove the soundbar and subwoofer from the wall outlet. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging them back in. Reconnect them after this period of time
  3. Launch the Samsung SmartThings application
  4. From the home page, select the soundbar
  5. On the SmartThings app interface, tap the three dots in the top right corner
  6. Select “Information.” Select “Firmware Update” from the menu that appears next. Next, click “Update Now.”
  7. Till the update is finished, adhere to the instructions shown on the screen
  8. When the update is complete, proceed as described above to manually connect your soundbar and subwoofer
