After Elon Musk’s poll to quit Twitter, social media started asking the question of who will be the new CEO of Twitter. We have listed Twitter’s new CEO candidates for you.

Elon Musk, the CEO and owner of Twitter, is looking for a replacement after a turbulent two and a half months. “I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job!,” Musk tweeted on Dec. 20. “After that, I will just run the software & servers teams.”

Musk’s poll about resigning has surfaced who will be the new CEO of Twitter questions

Less than two months after purchasing the social media site for $44 billion, Musk posted a poll on Dec. 18 asking people if he should resign as the CEO of Twitter. Of the 17 million responders, around 58 percent chose yes, while 43% chose no. It was anticipated that Musk would act as CEO of Twitter until the purchase agreement was finalized. He acknowledged this in November during a trial, saying he anticipated working less at Twitter and hiring someone else to lead the business.

Who will be the next CEO of Twitter?

Musk’s impulsive and seemingly inconsistent decision-making has drawn criticism from lawmakers, industry executives, advocacy groups, and more making convincing someone to take over Twitter difficult enough. He has changed his mind about contentious rules including forbidding links to other social networks and temporarily suspending journalists who write negatively of him. Twitter’s $8 monthly membership service Twitter Blue also launched poorly, awarding blue check marks to users who later impersonated well-known firms.

Along with Musk’s own eccentricities, the new CEO of Twitter will have to manage all the issues that come with leading a social network that is going through financial difficulties. Musk took over Twitter at a time when it was barely profitable, and because of his erratic leadership and divisive views, many well-known advertisers have left.

So in case, you are wondering who will be the new CEO of Twitter, here is our list of candidates:

  • Jack Dorsey
  • John Legere
  • Margaret Sullivan
  • Caterina Fake

Jack Dorsey

Jack Dorsey is the first man who comes to our mind when we asked who will be the new CEO of Twitter question. After helping to build the platform in 2006, Dorsey became CEO of Twitter. However, he was purportedly let out in 2008 due to his executive management style. After Twitter CEO Dick Costolo resigned in 2015 over worries about stagnant user growth, he returned to Twitter. Dorsey was given the position permanently that year after serving as the temporary CEO of Twitter.

However, activist investor firm Elliott Management eventually put pressure on Dorsey to quit the company. His job was terminated in November 2021.

The only problem is that Dorsey is unwilling to take over as CEO again. In May, he responded to a tweet from someone who thought Musk would ask Dorsey to lead Twitter:

“Nah I’ll never be CEO again,” he tweeted. When asked who should be Twitter CEO, Dorsey replied “no one ultimately.”

But who knows? Maybe Dorsey is the perfect answer to the who will be the new CEO of Twitter question.

John Legere

The next individual that springs to mind for the answer to who will be the new CEO of Twitter is John Legere.

Legere, the former CEO of T-Mobile, had already contacted Musk about leading the social media site but had received a frigid response.

No

Legere might be the perfect candidate for the who will be the new CEO of Twitter inquiry if he can overcome his initial frigid attitude. He is a corporate executive with experience managing large organizations that can carry out his plans. He also has some experience with comebacks, having taken T-Mobile from a struggling, almost-forgotten No. 4 player to the second-largest cellphone carrier in the country.

Margaret Sullivan

Margaret Sullivan, a former media columnist for The Washington Post and an innovative public editor for The New York Times, has a thorough understanding of the ability of media platforms to inform and empower or turn into a haven for false material intended to sow disbelief.

Yes, she hasn’t held the position of CEO of a significant, complex firm. So what? She must be the answer to the who will be the new CEO of Twitter riddle, right? She can put together a leadership team to handle operations, technology, and content moderation while focusing on the more crucial tasks of defining strategy and the ground rules for a new social media platform where values like ethics, transparency, and trust aren’t just buzzwords for tweets.

Caterina Fake

Caterina Fake has enjoyed success in the media world as well as in the tech sector. She began her career in the computer sector as the manager of Netscape’s community forums. With co-founder Stewart Butterfield, she founded Flickr, a groundbreaking and well-known photo-sharing site, as a result of her expertise in blogging and online communities.

Caterina Fake’s work experience makes her the perfect candidate to become the new CEO of Twitter

In 2005, Yahoo purchased it for almost $20 million. Her experience in the media also includes working as the art director for the online news site Salon, co-founding Hunch with businessman Chris Dixon, which was bought out by eBay for $80 million, and being a member of the board of Creative Commons.

What are your thoughts on who will be the new CEO of Twitter? We wonder if the poll to leave the CEO position was another joke, or is the millionaire really serious this time?
