Recent celebrity deaths 2022 is a topic we did not want to write about but It’s time to remember the celebrities and prominent figures we said farewell to in 2022
From one of Hollywood’s last Golden Age stars to the first black man to win the Oscar for best actor to a cricketing classic, an EastEnders hero, the Queen, and the matchless singer who would do Anything for Love we have lost too many important people this year.

Here’s a look back at the lives and careers of the great figures from the realms of music, cinema, television, fashion, sports, royalty, and politics who regrettably passed away in the last 12 months as another year comes to a close.
Recent celebrity deaths 2022: January
In January, we realized that we would no longer be able to see many of the faces we love. The loss of these people is very sad for us.
Sidney Poiter
Sidney Poiter, an actor, and diplomat became the first black man to win the Oscar for best actor in 1964 for his work in the film Lilies of the Field.
The Hollywood icon, who was known for bringing attention to black people’s problems at the time, had numerous appearances in movies and TV shows over the course of his career, including In The Heat Of The Night, To Sir, With Love, and Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner. He has served as the director of a number of films, including Ghost Dad, Hanky Panky, and Stir Crazy.
According to his death certificate, Poitier, who also had prostate cancer and Alzheimer’s disease, passed away at the age of 94 principally from heart failure. A star who “epitomized dignity and grace, displaying the power of film to bring us closer together,” was the subject of Mr. Obama’s remarks during the honors.
Meat Loaf
Meat Loaf, whose real name is Michael Lee Aday, sold more than 100 million albums globally throughout the course of his career.
Dead Ringer For Love, Paradise By The Dashboard Lights, Two Out Of Three Ain’t Bad, and I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) were among Meat Loaf’s hits, but it was his 1977 debut album’s lead single, “Bat Out Of Hell,” that cemented his status as a household figure.
The celebrity passed away at the age of 74 after publicly discussing recent problems with health conditions like asthma.

Barry Cryer
The legendary comedian Barry Cryer began his career as a variety act before moving on to collaborate with and write for some of the biggest names in the UK comedy scene.
He appeared on numerous beloved TV shows throughout a seven-decade career, served as a panelist on the radio program I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue for a long time and wrote material for a generation of British comedians like Ronnie Barker, Ronnie Corbett, and Tommy Cooper as well as American stars like Bob Hope and Richard Prior.
A number of celebrities, including Stephen Fry, Gyles Brandreth, and David Baddiel, paid tribute after he passed away in a hospital at the age of 86.

Jamal Edwards
Even though Jamal Edwards‘ name wasn’t well-known outside of the music industry prior to his passing, the outpouring of support for the businessman showed how important he was to the careers of some of the biggest singers in the UK.
After using recreational drugs, he passed away at home at the age of 31, and his mother, singer, and Loose Women panelist Brenda Edwards went on to warn others about the dangers of doing the same.
Lata Mangeshkar
Lata Mangeshkar, a legendary vocalist who began performing on stage at the age of nine, was one of India’s greatest cultural icons. Her career spanned eight decades, from the time of Frank Sinatra to Adele.
She got a little role in a Hindi film when she was 13 and began acting when she was 13, but her true love was singing. She later became known as the voice of Bollywood after singing an estimated 15,000 songs in more than a dozen languages and collaborating with almost every director, actor, and actress in the business.
A formal funeral was given after her passing at the age of 92. She was cherished as the “Melody Queen” and “Nightingale of India.”

Gary Booker
For more than 50 years, Gary Brooker served as Procol Harum’s frontman and provided the group’s signature vocals for its 13 studio albums.
Their biggest hit came with their 1967 debut single A Whiter Shade Of Pale, which was widely recognized as defining “The Summer of Love” and spent six weeks at the top of the UK singles charts.
The 76-year-old singer, pianist, and composer passed away quietly at home while receiving cancer treatment, according to his bandmates.

In March, we were shocked by many names who left our world. While we extend our condolences to their loved ones, we would like to look back on the lives of these names.
Shane Warne
Shane Warne was a cricketing icon and is regarded as one of the finest bowlers in history. Despite playing only seven first-class matches, he made his Test debut against India in Sydney in 1992.
In 145 Test matches, he grabbed 708 Test wickets, culminating in a brilliant career that saw him retire from international cricket in 2007. He claimed 293 dismissals in 194 one-day international matches between 1993 and 2004 and won the 1999 50-over World Cup.
After Shane Warne’s untimely death at the age of 52, Daniel Andrews, the premier of the Australian state of Victoria, claimed that he “didn’t simply inspire a cricket generation; he defined it.”
Taylor Hawkins
After traveling with one of the biggest performers of the 1990s, singer Alanis Morissette, Taylor Hawkins joined the Foo Fighters in 1997, taking on the rather challenging chore of playing drums behind master drummer Dave Grohl.
Hawkins was a major force in the group, frequently taking the stage during live performances to sing Queen songs—one of his favorite bands—while Grohl stayed in the back.

The world was devastated by his unexpected demise at the age of 50 while the band was on tour in South America. The Foo Fighters held two star-studded concerts in September 2022 in London and Los Angeles to raise money for charity in honor of their “badass bandmate, our beloved brother.”
William Hurt
William Hurt, an Oscar-winning actor, was a leading man in the 1980s film industry and is best remembered for his work in The Big Chill, Body Heat, and Broadcast News.
Throughout his career, he received three consecutive nominations for an Academy Award, winning for 1985’s Kiss Of The Spider Woman, in which he portrayed a gay guy who shared a cell with a political prisoner in Brazil.
He had previously been diagnosed with cancer, according to his son, and passed away peacefully at age 71 with his family by his side.
Tom Parker
One of the five members of the British-Irish boy band The Wanted, which is best known for the hits Glad You Came, All Time Low, and Chasing The Sun, was Tom Parker.
He stated in October 2020 that he had received a diagnosis of a fatal brain tumor and had undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy. In subsequent interviews, he explained how the growth had decreased and claimed to be in good health. He even revealed that he had performed on stage with his bandmates for the first time in seven years.
While the celebrity was receiving treatment, Parker passed away at the age of 33, leaving behind his wife Kelsey and their two daughters, Aurelia Rose (born in 2019) and Bodhi (born in October 2021).

June Brown
For 35 years, June Brown played the beloved character of chain-smoking, hypochondriac laundromat employee Dot Cotton. June Brown joined the cast in 1985, not long after the show’s debut, at the recommendation of actor Leslie Grantham, who played Dirty Den.
After the passing of soap opera legend June Brown at the age of 95, EastEnders actors took the lead in paying respect.
Jordan Mooney
Jordan Mooney, whose true name was Pamela Rooke, was regarded as the “Queen of Punk” and most remembered for her work with the Sex Pistols.
She worked as a model for Vivienne Westwood and was renowned for her daring attire, which influenced punk style. Maisie Williams, a Game of Thrones actress, plays Mooney in Danny Boyle’s TV movie Pistol about the Sex Pistols.
Her relatives stated she passed away at age 66 after a brief fight with cancer.

Art Rupe
By establishing Specialty Records in Los Angeles in 1946 and giving artists like Sam Cooke, Little Richard, and John Lee Hooker an early break, music executive Art Rupe played a key role in the mainstreaming of R&B.
After Rupe passed away at the age of 104, rock and roll historian and musician Billy Vera referred to him as “one of the finest individuals I’ve known.”

Dennis Waterman
Veteran British actor Dennis Waterman was most well-known for the TV series The Sweeney and Minder.
He played Terry McCann in Minder, a character from the late 1970s who spent seven seasons skulking around west London’s criminal underbelly. I Could Be So Good For You, the show’s theme song that was a hit in the UK and Australia, was another song he performed. According to his agency, he passed away at home in Spain at the age of 74, next to his wife Pam.

We wish a long life for the families of these celebrities that passed away in June.
Deborah James
In the weeks leading up to and following her passing, charity donations poured in extraordinarily large amounts because of podcaster and activist Deborah James‘s candid stories of life with colon cancer.
She had reportedly told her family: “I am not bold – I am not dignified walking towards my death – I am simply a fearful girl who is doing something she has no choice in but I know I am grateful for the life that I have had,” according to her relatives, who claimed the 40-year-old passed away peacefully.
Philip Baker Hall
Philip Baker Hall had a successful career that lasted for more than 40 years in both theater and movies, during which he appeared as a library detective on the popular American sitcom Seinfeld.
His filmography featured roles in Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and The Truman Show, and Seinfeld producers lauded him as “one of Hollywood’s greatest character performers” after his passing at the age of 90.

Dame Paula Rego
More than five decades of Dame Paula Rego‘s career in the arts were marked by her enchanting paintings inspired by her early memories and fairy tales.
At the age of 87, Dame Paula passed away in her north London residence. The mayor of the town of Cascais, which is home to a museum devoted to her art, Carlos Carreiras, declared that “Portuguese culture has lost one of its most significant and irreverent authors.”

From Ivana Trump to Shinzo Abe we have seen so many deaths in July.
James Caan
Actor James Caan‘s major break came in 1972 when he starred as the hot-tempered and tumultuous Sonny in The Godfather. For this part, he was nominated for both a Golden Globe and an Oscar for best-supporting actor. In Godfather II, he later played the same part again.
The 82-year-old man passed away, according to his relatives.
Shinzo Abe
Shinzo Abe, the longest-serving prime minister of Japan, was killed during a campaign event in the city of Nara by close-range gunfire.
Ivana Trump
Ivana Trump, the former husband of Donald Trump, gave birth to his three eldest children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. She suffered “blunt impact injuries” to her body and died at the age of 73 after falling down a flight of stairs at her New York City residence.

Olivia Newton-John
“Stud, tell me about it!” In the 1978 movie version of the musical Grease, Olivia Newton-John played the timid, reserved Sandy. After changing at the end of the movie, she said this well-known statement to John Travolta’s Danny Zuko, the leader of the T-Birds.
When Dame Olivia passed away at the age of 73, Travolta paid her respect by declaring, “Yours from the minute I saw you and forever!”
Mikhail Gorbachev
Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, one of the most important people of the 20th century, is credited with bringing an amicable conclusion to the Cold War but was unable to stop the Soviet Union’s dissolution in 1991. A man of peace is sadly included within one of many names in recent celebrity deaths 2022.
In his eulogy, US President Joe Biden referred to him as “a man of remarkable vision” who contributed to preventing the possibility of nuclear war. He passed away at the age of 91.

England lost their queen in September.
Queen Elizabeth II
As the oldest head of state in history and the monarch with the longest reign in British history, Queen Elizabeth II. Outside of work, she was a passionate wife, mother, and grandmother to four children, eight granddaughters, and twelve great-grandchildren.
On September 8th, only a few months after celebrating her Platinum Jubilee, she passed away at the age of 96.

Dame Hilary Mantel
Dame Hilary Mantel received the Booker Prize for both Bring Up the Bodies and Wolf Hall. When the trilogy’s climax, Mirror And The Light, was released in 2020, it immediately shot to the top of the fiction best-seller list.
Her publisher, 4th Estate Books, announced Dame Hilary’s passing at the age of 70 and expressed appreciation that “she left us with such a beautiful body of work.”.
Coolio
The eulogies for rapper Coolio after his passing at age 59 were led by actors Michelle Pfeiffer, Snoop Dogg, MC Hammer, and LL Cool J.
The star, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey Jr., is most known for the 1995 hit song Gangsta’s Paradise, which he wrote and recorded for Pfeiffer’s movie Dangerous Minds. It launched him to stardom throughout the world, spent three weeks at the top of the US Billboard charts, and won him the Grammy for best solo rap performance.

Dame Angela Lansbury
In addition to being nominated for three Oscars and winning five Tony Awards for her Broadway performances throughout the course of her career, Dame Angela Lansbury also got an honorary Academy Award in 2013 for her lifetime contribution to the film industry.
Her three children, three grandsons, and five great-grandchildren survive her. She passed away at the age of 96, a few days before her birthday.
Robbie Coltrane
In addition to his role as Dr. Eddie “Fitz” Fitzgerald in the 1990s TV crime drama Cracker, Robbie Coltrane is most recognized for his role as Hagrid in the Harry Potter film series. Robbie Coltrane has always been regarded as a larger-than-life personality both on and off the screen. His agent referred to him as a “great actor” and “forensically clever” before his death at the age of 72.

Jerry Lee Lewis
The last surviving member of a generation of groundbreaking artists that also included Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, and Little Richard was rock ‘n’ roll pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis.
His heirs reported that he passed away at home in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 87.

Christine McVie
Fleetwood Mac, a British-American rock band with classics including Dreams and Go Your Own Way, was formed in London in 1967 and has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful bands in music history.
Songbird, Everywhere, Little Lies, and Don’t Stop are some of the band’s most well-known songs that were written by singer-songwriter and keyboardist Christine McVie.
After McVie passed away at the age of 79, bandmate Stevie Nicks took the lead in the tributes, claiming she had lost her “best friend in the whole world.”.
Leslie Phillips
Leslie Phillips began acting in movies when he was a young child in the 1930s, and he went on to have a distinguished career both on stage and in movies. He is best known for his roles in the Carry On series of comedies, which include Carry On Teacher, Carry On Columbus, Carry On Constable, and Carry On Nurse.

Following her passing, at age 71, Travolta and co-stars Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer led the tributes, with Danson stating: “She always made me laugh, and I’m both incredibly sorry and appreciative of that.
