Today, we will be going over will my alarm go off on sleep mode, for both iOS and Android, so you can sleep easy knowing that you will be woken up in the morning.

After a long day of work, you are getting ready to go to bed. It was a particularly long day and you want to take a long night’s sleep to charge yourself up for tomorrow. Well, it is half past eight and at least one of your buddies is bound to send you a funny meme or an Instagram reel. Therefore you turn on your mobile device’s “Do Not Disturb” mode. Unfortunately, you are now left wondering: “Will my alarm go off on sleep mode?” If this is the case for you, don’t fret, as we will answer this question for both iOS and Android users.

Will my alarm go off on sleep mode?

The alarm would ring even when the phone was off, which was a fantastic feature of old Nokia and other dumb phones. As a result, you could retire to bed certain that your phone would remain silent until the alarm went off to wake you up. This function is still present on some Android phones. Sadly, neither does your iPhone, and by extension, your iPad. What about sleep mode, though?

iOS

In contrast to earlier feature phones, if your iPhone runs out of battery or is switched off, the alarm won’t go off. If your iPhone is set to mute or Do Not Disturb, the alarm will still go off. If you turn off your iPhone, the alarm won’t go off. Your iPhone has to be turned on if you want an alarm to sound. The alarm will still go off at the appropriate time even if the device is in sleep mode (with the screen off), silent, or even set to do not disturb.

Your morning alarm won’t go off if your iPhone runs out of power in the middle of the night. While you activate Low Power Mode on an iPhone, they do a fairly decent job of maintaining their charge when you aren’t using them. So if your battery has about 20% remaining, you shouldn’t be too concerned. On the other side, there is a very significant probability that it will run out of power during the night if you have just around 5% of the battery remaining and are planning on sleeping for eight hours.

The same principles that govern alarms also apply to timers, calendar events, and reminders. The timer won’t sound if you set one and then switch your iPhone off. Instead, the timer will start sounding as soon as your iPhone turns on again, ostensibly to warn you that you missed a timer.

Android

Not only Android will make your alarm go off even in Silent or Do Not Disturb mode, it actually has a built-in feature for this that will make most users’ lives easier.

Will my alarm go off on sleep mode?

The “Bedtime” mode for Android, formerly known as “Wind Down,” uses Do Not Disturb to block calls, messages, and alerts while grayscale gradually converts your phone’s hues to black and white to lessen eye strain. Google has updated this functionality to make it simpler to control when and how Bedtime mode is activated.

You may now choose to have it turn on automatically when your phone is hooked into its charger, depending on your sleep routine. To quickly turn on or off Bedtime mode with a single press, you can also add it to your Android phone’s Quick Settings. Additionally, you can choose to pause Bedtime mode if you need a few extra minutes without having to change your schedule.

Will my alarm go off on sleep mode?

Also, even if you don’t use this feature offered by Android, your phone’s alarm will go off as scheduled in the Silent and Do Not Disturb modes.
