Silent Hill’s history

Team Silent created the original Silent Hill video game, which was released in 1999. Despite being a hit, the franchise would soar in recognition and popularity with the 2001 release of Silent Hill 2. Simultaneously created games Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4 saw release in 2003 and 2004, respectively.

The following decade saw the release of a variety of other games, with Konami notably canceling the franchise’s most recent title, Silent Hills, as a result of strained ties between the publisher and developer Hideo Kojima. Prior to the game’s official introduction, a playable teaser called PT was made available. In the game’s climactic sequence, Norman Reedus, an actor, was revealed to be the main character.

Following his separation from Konami, Kojima went on to establish an independent Kojima Productions, with Reedus serving as the lead character for his new game, Death Stranding, which was created in collaboration with PlayStation.

Over the past few years, there have been numerous rumors and stories suggesting that different Silent Hill games are in various stages of production. According to recent claims, a remake of Silent Hill 2 and a new mainline game are both in production. Bloober Team, the creators of horror games like The Medium, may be working on the project.
