Emmy Awards 2022 nominees and winners
The 74th Emmy Awards have come and gone. At the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, huge series contended for TV’s most coveted prizes, with Succession surprised no one by taking home outstanding drama. Despite topping the field with 25 nominations, HBO’s acclaimed series received three Emmys (four counting Creative Arts Emmys).
Ted Lasso won four awards, including best comedy series and best lead actor for Jason Sudeikis for the second year in a year. The White Lotus had a spectacular night, winning ten Emmys in all, including best limited series, as well as acting, writing, and directing honors.
Zendaya also won her second lead actress award in a row, as a slew of first-time winners took the stage. Squid Game and its actor Lee Jung-jae created history by winning Primetime Emmys for the lead performance and directing, a first for a non-English-language program. Squid Game won six Emmys in all, including two for Creative Arts. Amanda Seyfried, Jennifer Coolidge, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Matthew Macfadyen, Murray Bartlett, and Michael Keaton all received their first Emmy nominations for acting.
