PlayStation Plus free games for August 2022
Here are your August free games announced by PlayStation Blog:
- Yakuza: Like A Dragon
- Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2
- Little Nightmares
Breaking down the games
The Yakuza series is extremely popular, so it’s no surprise that Yakuza: Like A Dragon is now available to PS Plus subscribers. After serving an 18-year sentence for a crime you did not commit, you play as Ichiban Kasuga and seek to rise through your crime organization to the top. This chapter added turn-based combat to the series (which will be continued in the next sequel). It’s a rambunctious RPG that will keep you wondering as you experiment with some of its shenanigans.
Most folks are thrilled about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2. This is a remastered version of the originals, which were available on our original PlayStations in 1999 and 2000. It’s well designed, with excellent music to back it up. If you haven’t played the original versions, please add them to your collection; they are two of the most iconic skateboarding video games ever made. Of course, there are some upgrades, such as the ability to play as some of the classic skateboarders or as new Olympian skaters.
This month’s unsettling third-person adventure game is Little Nightmares. This isn’t a really long game, but if you’re looking for a little spookiness to get you in the mood for Halloween, this is the game for you. You take on the role of Six and strive to escape the Maw, the prison ship on which you are imprisoned. The monsters you encounter and try to sneak about with are… terrifying at times. It has the right spooky atmosphere and a fantastically creepy soundtrack, and the game is almost too weird and nasty at times. While playing, you could find yourself turning on a light.
