Mona Lisa painting cake attack surprises the world
The museum’s officials in Paris, where the enigmatic painting is on display, did not reply to inquiries about the odd occurrence during Sunday’s event, which was filmed on several phones and widely disseminated via social media. The painting by Leonardo da Vinci, which has previously been the target of vandalism attacks, was safe thanks to its bulletproof glass casing.
According to a video posted by a Twitter user named Lukeee, a museum employee was seen cleaning up a mess on the glass, and another video where another man in white was escorted away by security guards.
Maybe this is just nuts to me?but an man dressed as an old lady jumps out of a wheel chair and attempted to smash the bullet proof glass of the Mona Lisa. Then proceeds to smear cake on the glass, and throws roses everywhere all before being tackled by security. ???? pic.twitter.com/OFXdx9eWcM

The video below, shared by Euronews, includes the protestor. In the video, the man who smeared the cake over Mona Lisa says in French:
“There are people who are destroying the Earth … All artists, think about the Earth. That’s why I did this. Think of the planet.”
Even though there are a few videos of the aftermath of the incident, no images or videos have emerged showing the actual incident. The Paris prosecutor’s office announced that an investigation had been opened into an attempt to defile a cultural work.
