In this guide, we are going to go over Knockout Bash controls, how to grab in Knockout Rocket League and everything that you need to know about this game mode.
What is Knockout Bash Rocket League?
Knockout Bash will pit eight drivers against one another in a free-for-all to be the last vehicle on the road. The features of a typical battle royale mode will be included in Knockout Bash, including perma-death and a shrinking combat zone. In this mode, players can be knocked out three times, then it’s done. To play the game, head to the official Rocket League website.
When you create a game with the goal of having people chasing a ball while driving rocket-powered vehicles, removing one of those elements seems a bit crazy. Psyonix has done precisely that with the upcoming Knockout Bash mode in Rocket League, which sees a group of eight players participates in free-for-all devastation derby-style gaming. This is something completely different from everything we’ve seen so far when it comes to Rocket League.

Rocket League Knockout Bash
When asked about the developers’ vision for Knockout Bash, Psyonix’s Sky Breen spoke to PlayStation Blog, saying:
“When we started designing Knockout, we saw this as an opportunity to evolve the gameplay of Rocket League further. A way to tailor fit Knockout with new vehicle physics and learnable skills, to make the mode as fun as possible,” says Breen. “At the same time, we want to give a new experience for players, one that hasn’t changed since our initial release seven years ago. Definitely breaking the rules for sure, but we are hoping players will really love all the changes and new additions we have made.”
“Initially, the prototype was built around attacking other players. It was fun, but we wanted to add more depth and variety to the player’s move set,” Breen says.”We came to the conclusion that many fighting games have three core move sets: attack, grab and block[…] We thought it would be fun if each move set juked another, like rock, paper, scissors. This way, it would allow players to outsmart others if they can predict what move someone else plans to use.”
How does Knockout work?
If you want to survive, you’ll have to learn the newest mechanics to this battle royale-inspired game mode. To score a KO, knock opponents out of the Safezone or into Hazards. Keep in mind that the last player standing wins.

- Attack: Dodge into your opponents to send them flying.
- Block: Backward dodge to reflect incoming attacks back towards your opponent.
- Grab: Hold the grab button while dodging to grab an opponent. Dodge again to throw.
- Triple Jump: Players may jump once on the ground and twice in the air.
- Multi Dodge: Players can dodge up to four times while in the air.
Rocket League Knockout Bash controls
The three new mechanics will provide players a different experience in Knockout Bash: Attack, Block, and Grab. Each is somewhat as it implies. Attacks are an even more powerful version of the dodge bash you perform in other modes of Rocket League, with the velocity of your vehicle determining the force you strike them with. Of course, you can’t expect the person you’re attacking not to try and stop it, and this is where Block comes in. If you execute a Block at the proper moment, your opponent’s assaults will be reflected back at them; however, if you mess up your timings, you’ll be smashed.

Last but not least, there’s Grab, which may be triggered by tapping the relevant button near an opponent and then dodging to launch them into the air. There are a few more minor mechanics in play, such as Stuns, Multi-dodges, Lock-Ons, Jumping, Triple Jumping, and Boosting; however, Attack, Block, and Grab are the most important. You can learn more about the secondary mechanics on the Rocket League website.

Knockout adds three new areas, each with its own shape and layout of obstacles. This allows gamers to develop distinct strategies for each arena, keeping their opponents on their toes at all times.
Several obstacles may be found in each Knockout Arena, including spikes and a laser grid that is below the platforms. Touching a hazard will result in an instant knockout, so sending opponents into them is a fast way to score points.
