Disney announced on Wednesday at CinemaCon that the first Avatar sequel will be called Avatar: The Way of Water, suggesting that the delayed project is genuinely going to premiere on December 16th. We may even have evidence about the movie soon, since the first teaser trailer will debut alongside Doctor Strange in Multiverse of Madness, which will go live on May 6th.
Avatar: The Way of Water trailer to debut on May 6th
Here is Disney’s plot summary:
Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.
The Way of Water isn’t the only Avatar film on the way; Avatar 3, 4, and 5 are also in the works, each set to premiere about two years after the preceding one. We are not sure what is cooking but the director James Cameron told The Verge that the sequels will make you “shit yourself with your mouth wide open.”
The first Avatar came out in 2009 and if you want to rewatch the revolutionary, it’s on Amazon Prime Video. Don’t miss the latest Doctor Strange 2 trailer if you are into sci-fi movies.
