In this guide, we will cover how to get Mythic Essence in League of Legends. The 12.6 update, which includes the Mythic content overhaul, is now live. This edition of League of Legends introduces a completely new cosmetics system.
The Mythic content update is attempting to rejuvenate the method by which League of Legends players obtain the rarest skins, icons, and other cosmetics. Players have previously been divided between gaining Prestige Points through time-limited events or Gemstones from chests and loot orbs to acquire Mythic skins. Both of these antiquated options will be phased out in favor of a new system.
Mythic content overhaul arrives
On Patch 12.6, the Mythic content overhaul will enter its first stage, signaling the termination of Prestige Points and Hextech Gemstones. The existing currencies will be replaced by Mythic Essence, a new currency designed to make obtaining Mythic skins more consistent across versions. Previous Hextech skin line and other Mythic options’ costs will be converted to Mythic Essence.

Riot announced that it is shutting down Prestige Points. In its place, however, Riot is planning to introduce a new Mythic skin line every year that fans can acquire with Mythic Essence. Ashen Knights are the first of these, a post-apocalyptic fantasy line that clearly draws inspiration from Dark Souls games and their sequel Elden Ring. This patch also includes some light balance changes, as well as a significant Rengar update with several quality-of-life improvements. You may read more about it here. It also introduces a new rune called Treasure Hunter, which increases gold earned on kills.
How to get Mythic Essence in League of Legends?
This new currency will be given in place of Gemstones and Prestige Points. Existing Gemstones will be changed into Mythic Essence automatically. All of the same methods where you may get currencies before will still exist, and they’ll provide Mythic Essence instead of gemstones and prestige points.
This patch also brings Ashen Knight Pyke, allowing players who have stockpiled a large number of Gemstones to show off their skills with this new mythical cosmetic.
